Harry Manx and band were great. Seats were small.

by toomanyboats on 2013-02-18Molson Canadian Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

Harry and his band were really enjoyable. I took my brother as a treat. The people working the venue were so friendly. Everything was going great until we sat down. The seats were far too narrow and jammed tightly together. Most people were obviously uncomfortable. We had to leave at the intermission . Extremely disappointing since we had driven for an hour and a half through a blizzard to get there. I would never recommend going to this venue. A let down. I was looking forward to seeing such a great player and got ripped off. See Harry anytime you can. He is great. Just not here.

    Must see Manx

by Degs on 2013-02-18Molson Canadian Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

My husband, friend and I attended this concert on friend's recommendation after seeing Manx 2 years ago. This year however, was mind blowing. The subtlety of the layers of music and exotic sounds was sublime. Best renditions of covers I have ever heard, so unique and beautifully re-created. Performers so engaging, warm and clearly in their element. Substantial talent and passion in one performance. I applaud them all for their mastery of instrument and generosity to share it with us the grateful audience.

    Harry's band was magical

by Ohmy on 2013-02-18Molson Canadian Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

Loved the music. The arrangements were magical. A true musician's musician. Everyone in the band brought something special to the evening that night. I had watched Harry perform solo at this venue five years earlier and became a fan. Listening to him perform together with a group of musicians that were each so distinct and listen to them craft their styles into tapestry of sound made for an unforgettable evening.

    Not what I expected

by Marleybones on 2013-02-18Molson Canadian Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

I saw Harry Manx for the first time at the Kitchener Blues Fest in 2012, and loved him. I still enjoyed his music very much, as we'll as the other musicians, especially Yeshe, very unique. Karin had a n interesting voice, however it was overkill. Did not like that I couldn't understand what she was singing, as well as the fact that she sounded exactly the same to me on each set. Would have preferred to listen to the other performer alone without her constant chanting. It really took away from the concert for me....once or twice would have been more than enough.

    Harry Manx was unforgettable.

by Decor8 on 2012-02-12Lindsay Academy Theatre - Lindsay

From the very first song, Harry Manx was fantastic. He covered songs from all his cd's, and totally entertained the audience with his wit as well as his talent.

    Talented and Funny

by joy20 on 2011-03-14The Banff Centre - Eric Harvie Theatre - Banff

Harry is a "guitar hero" of the "real" kind, not a game at all. He is a very talented singer/song writer and he has so much passion for what he does you can not help but be swept into his world of music. I believe everyone loved him, how often does one get asked to do three oncours. His drumming was great as well !

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was my first time seeing Manx live and I'm so glad I went. He is warm and funny as well as incredibly talented. I admit that I was disappointed that he had an accompanying keyboardist. I am not a fan of the keyboard and I think it changed the vibe of many of his songs, but I love the show in spite of this.

    Harry Manx concert was great!

by DanM on 2011-02-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

The Harry Manx show this past Saturday at the NAC was great! He played for about 2 hours a diversity of his portfolio from old to new. It's interesting to hear the sounds he can make with a guitar and his sense of humour was quite intelligent and engaging. Thankfully the venue was not too warm this time. An opening act would definitely have added to the overall experience. Make sure to check out Harry Manx next time you have the opportunity.

A rare treat for the discerning listener.

by ChromeSlideMojo78 on 2011-02-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Funny and talented, Harry Manx delivered the goods on Saturday with a selection from previous albums as well as a couple of yet-to-be-released tunes. The venue's acoustics were studio-perfect and Manx's keyboard accompaniment from Australia was also excellent. If you like slide, blues, and a liberal helping of Eastern influences, this is a good bet.

    MANX is Unique

by Christoph on 2011-02-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

We came not knowing what to expect. We were surprised to the up side and beyond. Harry has developed a unique blues style with that easter under tones. Coudl this be the sound that George Harrison was searching for ? The fellow from Australia accompanying Harry on electric piano/organ is going to be a star in his own right. Perfect mentoring for him to tour now with Harry, I thought. . Good irelations with the audience - perhaps reflects his humble roots. 4 stars recommended is an understatement BUT I'll save 5 stars only because Sade is coming in the summer - and I have such high expectations for her.

Harry Manx - Laid back eclectic blues

by TimF on 2011-02-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Deep, mellow music with Indian influences that has to be heard to understand how it works together. Very funny between the songs and very Canadian. Hard not to tap your toes and get lost in the rhythms. Accompanying keyboardist looked way too young to have the skills that he showed. A very enjoyable evening.

Time for Harry to try something...anything

by Thirdrowcenter on 2011-02-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I have seen Harry Manx 4 or 5 times now in venues from the Black Sheep to the NAC theater and always enjoyed him but I am waking up to the fact that he is in a rut and every song is starting to sound exactly like the one before it. Harry's voice never moves beyond its limited range and his music is starting to sound the same on every song. Keyboard player this time was a nice addition and provided some relief but come on Harry time to try something new.

Harry Manx is an exceptional musician. He plays with soul and a twinkle in his eye. A very mellow and gratifying concert experience.
