  • Stellar Performance

Master class of comedy. Hasan Minhaj is an excellent comedian. This show has great energy, great audience engagement, and is absolutely hilarious. I took a friend who had never watched any of Hasan's material before and he was laughing the whole time. Highly recommend both this show and Hasan Minhaj's comedy in general.

  • Great comedian, horrible venue experience

    by K on 2021-11-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Hasan was absolutely fantastic. No complaints at all, seriously funny and awesome guy. However, the venue was a gong show. We first waited over an hour in the pouring rain to get in, and the show had to be pushed back 45 minutes to accommodate. The line wrapped in multiple directions, nobody knew where they were supposed to line up, and people kept creating new branches with no instruction from employees. When we finally got inside, the washroom looked like it had been ran through by a stampede of bulls. It was seriously disgusting. And then I get in my stall, and THERE IS A HOLE WHERE THE TOILET PAPER DISPENSER WAS RIPPED OUT, and I COULD SEE THE PERSON BESIDE ME. It looked like absolute trash, I expect much better from such a high end venue.

  • Amazing Show

by Aaron on 2021-11-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Hasan was excellent on stage and the laughs kept on coming! His show is a masterpiece that will be remembered for a long time. The only gripe was that the show was delayed for almost an hour due to the lineups getting into QE theatre. It was pouring out and, despite lining up 40mins early, we had to wait in lineups around the block to get in. Hopefully QE can adjust for future shows and allow for more time between back to back shows.

  • Loved it, so personal

So cool of Hasan to share so much about himself and it was memorable

  • My first stand-up/live show in Vancouver

by Anil on 2021-11-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Although, I was sitting at the back of the theatre, Hasan managed to make me laugh just as hard as I laugh watching him on Netflix. The show was great but the audio could've used some improvement. It felt like the speakers are only in the front and people at the back were also listening from those speakers so the sound wasn't as loud as I'd hoped. Speakers at the back could definitely help. As for the show, I loved it!

hasan was great but the venue was very disorganized. the show was supposed to start at 8 and started after 9. i got there before 7:15, waited in the rain to get in and they had started the show before i even got in. it was disappointing.

This man is a genius! Literally travelled all the way from Toronto to Vancouver to catch the show and I’m so glad I did. This show is so wholesome and raw and an emotional rollercoaster.

  • Ted Talk or Comedy Show?

by InDaHouse on 2018-10-15Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Whenever someone on stage opens a bit with "Studies show..." or constantly presents charts and graphs to proove a point you feel like you are listening to a lecture series. The topics presented were important and humour was blended in nicely but as Hasan said himself "You may be wondering when are the jokes coming?"... Well they came at the end and were far too few to make this a true comedy show.

  • Hasan Minhaj is a hilarious story teller!!

Feeling incredibly grateful to call Hasan Minhaj's Before the Storm my first comedy experience! He skillfully used real-world current events with the perfect level of comedy. He connected incredibly well with the Toronto crowd and his opener Huda was a terrific choice - LOVED her!

Hasan was really funny and the opening act was funny too. Would have been better if they used the screen to show Hasan because we couldn’t see him well.

Hasan has incredible stage presence, and managed to keep the audience laughing for over an hour straight! Genuinely one of the best comedy shows I've been to, and the venue was perfect for this sort of show. The seating in this venue is great! Seats are staggered so you don't sit right behind anyone, and everyone has a great view of the stage because of the incline in the theatre.

  • Hasan Minhaj was excellent!

My whole family went to see Hasan's show, "Before the Storm", and we all loved it! It appeals to anyone, and is the perfect blend of engaging, witty, and relevant. I liked the way he incorporated news clips and digital media into his set. It's taking the traditional medium of stand-up, and bringing it into the modern day. Additionally, his opener was really funny as well and was a good pairing to his set. (I'm usually the person to come late and skip the opener, but I'm glad I didn't.) If you like the Daily Show or other late night shows, you'll like this a lot!

Hasan Minhaj is a fresh voice in comedy, incorporating visual aids and bring the right blend of social awareness/comedy, providing a missing perspective. Looking forward to his Netflix series.

The jokes were smart and funny. Not only they weren't based on racist or sexist stereotypes (as they are usually with most standup comedians), but also they were actually informing the audience of social and political issues the world and the US are dealing with these days. Highly recommended.
