About

HEY MERCEDES IN CONCERT:

Pop-punk masters Hey Mercedes built a rabid following among the emo set during their original run in the early '00s. Their initial split broke fans' hearts, but they got back together in 2007 and they've been playing occasional concerts – and wowing crowds with their hard-hitting and melodic favorites – ever since. Their sing-along emo tunes are the brainchild of frontman Bob Nanna, whose firebrand stage presence inspires ticket buyers to get lost in the moment and cut loose at their cathartic live shows. The group marries Nanna's catchy hooks to distorted guitar riffs and pummeling drum fills, giving crowds no excuse to hold back on standouts like "Quality Revenge at Last," "Eleven to Your Seven," and "Boy Destroyer." Hey Mercedes' hasn't missed a beat since reuniting, and fans can count on these emo masters to deliver passion, infectious energy, and plenty of adrenaline-filled anthems to the stage every time they reconvene.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Melody-oriented punk Bob Nanna first caught the attention of emo and post-hardcore fans when he founded Chicago-area favorite Braid in 1993. Songwriting team Nanna and the more experimental Chris Broach traded off vocal duties and won acclaim on albums like 1998's Paint & Canvas. Unfortunately, the contrasting styles that made the frontmen such a dynamic duo also tore the group apart – Broach split to form indie rockers The Firebird Band, while Nanna delved further into poppy songwriting with Hey Mercedes starting in 1999. The group made their full-length debut the following year with Everynight Fire Works, winning over new fans throughout the emo and punk scene. Despite the glowing reviews for 2003's Loses Control, their rigorous touring schedule began to take its toll and they called it quits weeks before the 2005 release of their swansong EP Unorchestrated. Though Nanna was busy with his solo project The City on Film, he decided to delight fans by bringing Hey Mercedes back together in 2007 for a brief tour. Since then Hey Mercedes has taken every opportunity to play one-off shows, festivals, and tours, giving audiences a chance to experience their delightfully catchy emo in concert.
