uneven show with some great performances

by Anonymous on 2015-12-08Rogers K-Rock Centre - Kingston

Tessa and Scott were great, as expected, but overall the show lacked cohesion, it was too much a rehash of old shows (Kurt Browning, who we love, had his "Dancing in the Rain", become "White Christmas"), and the "Holiday" theme appeared a half-hazard add-on... not to mention their was a general lack of enthusiasm, with the exception of Tessa/Scott, Kurt, and Shawn Sawyer. Overall, as slight disappointment...

    So So

by Limestoner on 2015-12-08Rogers K-Rock Centre - Kingston

Not bad but not great either. I found that the price was a little steep for the length and quality of the show. Kurt Browning was very good, and the ultimate entertainer, but the rest were mediocre. The attendance was poor and that was probably a reflection on the ticket prices.

Holiday Festival on Ice at the K-Rock Centre Kings

    by Teacher83 on 2015-12-08Rogers K-Rock Centre - Kingston

The show was excellent and our seats were centre ice and spectacular. I would have liked a little longer show as it was less than 2 hours not including the intermission. The souvenir photos were a bit pricey.

Best show ever, great performance. I loved the young physically challenged man who came out at the beginning of the show to show us his talents. He was amazing and was so proud of himself. The audience loved him.

    Enjoyed the show

by rmk129 on 2015-12-07Credit Union Place - Summerside

My husband, myself and our 5-year-old daughter really enjoyed the show. Great opportunity to see some amazing talent and the venue was very comfortable - we showed up with blankets to keep us warm but ended up taking off our jackets!

Holiday on Ice -- a real disappointment!

by Rink on 2013-12-17Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

Not what I was expecting and definitely was not worth the money I paid for the seats. Seemed more like a practice not a performance of professional skaters. I have been to other skating shows with some of the same skaters and it was much better - a real show with a light show, etc. and way more to it.

    Great skaters, poor show

by disappointedformerskater on 2013-12-16CN center - prince george

It felt like we were at the rehearsal, not the show, I was very disappointed in the decor, lights, and overall feeling...I later saw it on TV and it looked amazing...with live singers and lights down and holiday decor. I realize this was in PG not in a big city where cameras were..but it was still very disappointing the skaters were awesome though, Kurt Especially! though some of the songs were weird...

Footwork and the buns were awesome

by bridey on 2013-12-12Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

It is amazing to see Kurt and Elvis still skating with all the smoothness that only they can do. I have followed both of their careers since they were young and enjoy them as much today as I did when they were competing. Saw Kurt as a 11 year old in Jasper in Fiddler on the Roof I believe - awesome.

Holiday Festival on Ice didn't disappoint

by IceFanFromBurnsLake on 2013-12-11Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

These performers were something to see in person. After following their careers through world championships and olympics, it was really something to see in person. Some of these skaters are starting to get along in years, but it certainly was not noticeable in the performances. The two first aid staff members at CN Centre in Prince George went above and beyond in their efforts to get a disabled parent down to ice level to our seats, and then back up again after the show. They made the night for us!

Really enjoyed the show, was very impressed with Holly Cole, where has she been hiding? I love her voice! We just were not told that it was going to be televised and they wanted you to stay around after the show.

    Holiday Festival On Ice

by Happyskatingfan on 2013-12-09Langley Events Centre - Langley

I loved the show but was very disappointed that at the end the stars didn't circle around the perimeter of the ice and shake hands with the ice level guests and wave. We splurged on ice level seats and were really looking forward to seeing the skaters up close and personal as has happened in other shows. A better selection of local skaters would have been nicer. There is a lot of talent in the lower mainland; this I know from personal experience! I am not sure how these skaters were chosen.

The show was wonderful, made even more so by the fact that it was recording and we were able to see the retakes. FUN!

    It was ok

by Anonymous on 2013-12-09Langley Events Centre - Langley

I have to admit I was a little disappointed. Most of the skaters were great. Kurt was still funny, Elvis still has the moves and there was a pair there that was great, especially cause the woman was lifting the guy a few times. One male figure skater was really awesome, I thought him to be the next Elvis as he did alot of flips in his routines. Wasn't much comedy to it and wasn't as kid friendly as I thought. Maybe for a girl that is into figure skaters but my son thought it was just ok. I just didn't think there was much too it. I expected more from what the writeup said and reviews from last year.

Great Family Event and Music sound was excellent

by Dougalicious on 2013-12-09Langley Events Centre - Langley

Holly Cole's band and voice had great acoustics (not expected at an arena) and great song selection. Skating was really good. Would have liked a bit more tricks etc. as I felt Kurt and Elvis did their usual style and moves. The others were younger and more flamboyant which I liked as a 'show' and for the fun. The group skates were pretty mediocre and could use updated choreography. I liked the inclusion of a couple local figure skaters who did hold their own for the most part with the more seasoned skaters. Kids loved the replay of the various jumps and to participate as an audience in a CBC film/special. Was a good lesson for the kids to see that even the pro's are not perfect and that the crowd support matters to them.

Holiday on Ice was TOO short & not enough holiday

by Cloverdale on 2013-12-09Langley Events Centre - Langley

I went and felt the show was too short, and that there was not enough emphasis on the holidays. There was only about 8 Christmas songs, and I felt the show for $50.00 was a waste of money.

    Event good...concession bad...

by Rainsong on 2013-12-09Langley Events Centre - Langley

The Holiday Festival on Ice featuring Holly Cole was great!.... Holly Cole is such a great singer, and her music so suits something like this. It's also obvious how much the skaters respect, like, and enjoy skating to her music.. As an audience, it was interesting to see how a taped television event is organized......with extra skating (if there were mistakes, or missed jumps, etc)....plus the actual "leading" of the extra needed applause after the event was even turned into a fun time.......the only negative I'd have to say has nothing to do with the event, only the concessions....whereby when the concession can't handle an event of that magnitude, due to the amount of people, don't bother opening the concession stands at all. Bad service is possibly worse that unavailable service. Having the serving staff continue to say "I can help the next person over here".....only to take the customers money and tell them to "wait over there"......for waits anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes waiting for popcorn, a hot dog, or, in my case, 15 minutes for the water to boil for a cup of tea.....is beyond poor service....it's impolite, and makes it obvious that the managers have no respect for their customers......only the need to take their money as fast as possible. I'll return to the Events Center in the future, however, I'll be bringing my own drinks/food...

Holiday Festival on Ice featuring Holly Cole

by Holidayspirit on 2013-12-09Langley Events Centre - Langley

This was a terrific show, and having Holly Cole singing was the icing on the festive cake! It was interesting to see what goes into taping a show for later t.v. viewing. Will be watching the t.v. program on Dec. 16th, too!

The show was fabulous, very entertaining. Always great to see the skaters in person. Enjoyed Holly Coles singing while the skaters did their programs. It is definitely a show I would go to again if it returned next year.

Holiday Festival On Ice was fantastic

by RetiredinLangley on 2013-12-09Langley Events Centre - Langley

Took my 92 year old Mum - she loved it - we had never seen Elvis skate live . . . he was amazing - Kurt was fantastic, that footwork absolutely breathtaking. Overall it was an evening to remember with the live music and skating.
