HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH IN CONCERT:
Few bands loom larger in the collective memory of the '90s than Hootie & the Blowfish, the unforgettably-named roots rockers behind decade classics like "Only Wanna Be with You" and "Time." Combining heartland rock and pop sensibility, the band's 1994 debut album Cracked Rear View went 16 times platinum, landing five singles on the charts and becoming the top-selling album of 1995. In 2014, the band will reunite on stage to celebrate 20 years since their landmark debut, treating fans at select tour dates to their greatest hits as well as new material from their highly anticipated reunion album.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed by four University of South Carolina freshmen in 1986, Hootie & the Blowfish released several demo EPs before launching to superstardom with theirĀ chart-topping 1994 debut Cracked Rear View. Singer Darius Rucker's iconic baritone became an ubiquitous presence on '90s airwaves as songs like "Let Her Cry" and "Hold My Hand" climbed the charts, eventually making the debut the top-selling album of 1995. After picking up Best New Artist at the 1996 Grammys, the quartet once again landed at No. 1 with sophomore album Fairweather Johnson,Ā appearing on MTV Unplugged in support of the album's release. Following the 2005 release of Looking for Lucky, the group disbanded, announcing reunion shows in 2014 to the delight of fans around the world.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"This show was unforgettable. The band still plays with chemistry like they were still touring. They are so energetic and still sound amazing. They came out for two encores. I highly recommend this show!"
"Stage set was amazing and the Band was outstanding. Great sound and the set list was perfect. They covered a few songs like Cheap Tricks 'Surrender' (AMAZING), Doobie Brothers, and more, along with All the Blowfish's greats!"
"It was like the 90's all over again! You have got to love a band that has fun playing music."
Hootie (Darius) has always been my very fav singer. The Blowfish reunion didn't disappoint. Bare Naked Ladies were awesome. Fantastic night!
Excellent show!! Love Dariusā voice and love the the band! I had great seats. The crowd was out of their seats the entire time! One of my fav bands, for sure. š¶
They sounded amazing! Sang all my favourite songs!
Budweiser Stage has improved in so many areas!! The food vendors have stepped up their game, improving the quality and variety of food. The staff throughout the venue, as always, are so friendly and extremely helpful and professional. I wouldnāt hesitate to attend another concert there.
The Barenaked ladies were great! Enjoyed their music and commentary! Hootie and the Blowfish picked up where they left off! Budweiser Stage is a great environment for the concert! Maybe a shorter intermission but it was an awesome night!
Loved the show. Both The Barenaked Ladies and Hootie and the Blowfish put on an exciting show. Energy was high and they played all their hits!!
Had a great time at the concert they really put on a great show and I also really enjoyed the Barenaked ladies wow they are also a great band to see.
Barenaked Ladies were so fun as the opener, got the crowd right into it. Darius Rucker is a great entertainer and had a talented band behind him. Excellent mix of pop and country, they played both Hootie hits and his solo ones. Very enjoyable show from start to finish.
It was amazing.....both bands were amazing, ive seen them both before and never disappointed! The Barenaked Ladies i have to say were the best yet....although i Love their "Coldwater" tribute when Ed started to sing shallow ....wow and the drummer outstanding performance!
Both BNL and Hootie put on great shows with lots of energy but the sound quality was poor.
The two bands were excellent and played music that kept the fans rocking all night
The reason I purchased tickets was to see The Barenaked Ladies which were awesome however getting to see Hootie & The Blowfish was a bonus. I'm familiar with their older songs which I really like however not a country music fan. Also, it would be great for those who have front row seats in Section 400 to SIT DOWN in their seats so that other fans behind can see the show; drop your self entitlement attitude and all about me, we all pay to see the concert it's not a private show for yourself.
Fantastic evening with not 1 but 2 exceptional bands. Everyone was up dancing and singing to a wam beat. \The time went so fast it was over before we knew it. And to say that my husband didn't want to go. He had the best time ever. What a way to end the summer as far as events go. Budweiser Stage is our favourite venue to go to. \we went to 3 concerts this summer and this one was by far the best.....
Loved every second of this concert. Hootie and he Blowfish loved playing in their hometown and their hometown crowd loved them. Worth getting tickets to even all the way from Canada!
