    AMAZING!!!

by SELToronto on 2018-09-05Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Grand Hall - Niagara Falls

First time we saw Howie Day live was in Toronto in 2002. Saw him two more times in Toronto before this show in Niagara Falls. Maybe subtle changes, but the songs are played differently from show to show. Amazing concert. He was genuinely thankful when I told him after the show that it was a great set, and he has to come back to Canada more often. The first time we saw Howie Day live was in 2002 in Toronto. The album "Australia" wasn't available in Canada at that time- all we had heard was live recordings up until that point. After the show, Howie Day just gave me (and a buddy) copies of the Australia CD. Great guy, and an unbelievable live performer. Every show is always worth it.

Great intimate event, but one lady was annoying

by dobyblue on 2018-08-28Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Grand Hall - Niagara Falls

Really intimate event, you can see the setlist at setlist dot fm which is much better than looking it up here, but Howie came out to a PA announcement as part of the Grand Hall's songwriter's series which was quite funny, and given this was at the Niagara Casino there were lots of people in attendance you wouldn't expect to see at a Howie Day performance, people of all ages and races. Sound was excellent and the tables are all within 100' of the stage, I was seated just one table back from the front table direclty in line with Howie's mic and probably about 20' from where Howie was standing, no need for binoculars and the sound levels were just perfect that no earplugs were required. Highlights were "Be There" from Sound The Alarm, Madrigals, Ghost, Sorry So Sorry and Collide. Bunnies sounded a tiny bit weird with fluctuations in volume. At first there was some playful banter with a lady at table 84 who had asked for one song but I think she was inebriated because during the final four songs, all of which were great songs you'd want to listen to and enjoy, she was yakking away. I mentioned something on the way out and her dummy guy companion said "it's a concert man" No, it's an acoustic seated intimate songwriters event you numpty! Nevertheless, if you have a chance to see one of your fave artists do an acoustic set at this venue, go for it! Great acousitcs, comforable seating and complimentary bottle of spring water and dish of popcorn on your table, not bad.
