About

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

Contemporary folk icons Indigo Girls have had a long tenure as torchbearers of a modern approach to folk music that incorporates elements of alternative rock, punk, and country into the genre's traditional foundation. Each taking the stage with a guitar and a distinct voice, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray find the right balance of tension and harmony at their live shows, thrilling fans with marathon sets of mainstream hits and cult classics from their extensive catalog. In anticipation of a return to the studio in late 2014 for their 14th album, the Girls are pulling out all the stops on tour, performing alongside some of the country's best symphony orchestras at select dates around the country.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Childhood schoolmates Amy Ray and Emily Saliers began performing together while attending high school in Atlanta, eventually assuming the name Indigo Girls during their time together at Emory College. Their strong showing on 1987 debut LP Strange Fires set the stage for their self-titled 1989 sophomore album, which scored them their first hit with "Closer to Fine" and received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. 1994's Swamp Ophelia would be an even bigger success, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and going on to receive platinum certification from the RIAA. Over two and a half decades, the Indigo Girls have endured as one of folk's most beloved alternative acts, showing no signs of slowing with new material and a tour in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Absolutely fantastic show, Amy and Emily are very talented musicians, but when you add a 75 piece backup band to their music, it hits new heights."

"Best musical performance I have ever seen. Seeing the Indigo Girls play with a symphony orchestra was incredible."

"It was amazing to hear this duo and their powerful harmonies played with a full symphony orchestra. I have seen them live before, but this was a special event."

by benbitt on 2013-02-26The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I'm not a fan of the Indigo Girls but my wife is so I bought the tickets for her for christmas. The Shadowboxers were phenomenal and totally unexpected. The Indigo Girls were also a pleasant surprise. I would definitely see both bands again!! Great music and amazing venue!

    Indigo Girls Rock the House

by chattysue on 2013-02-22The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I don't know if the Indigo Girls are promoting a new disc (Beauty Queen Sister, released in 2011), it didn't really feel like it, no promotional tee shirts or cds in the lobby of the beautiful Danforth Music Hall.....no,the concert felt like a great big "thank you" to the fans who have been loving the music of the Girls since they first blew into our lives back in the mid-eighties. Joined by their touring band as well as the members of their opeining act, The Shadowboxers, the Girls did it all....older acoustic favs, bigger electric numbers, newer, less well-known tunes, charming stories. Perhaps the most wonderful element of the concert was Amy and Emily's pure delight in sharing the evening of song with us, their fans.

    Indigo Girls Rock Toronto!

by Tarza on 2013-02-22The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I have seen the Girls 7 times and although each was unique and significant in many ways, I have to say this was one of the most powerful, intimate and inspiring shows! The Toronto crowd was very energetic, supportive and a lot of fun The Danforth Music Hall was a great venue! Can't wait to see them again! TJ

    Worth the 10 hour drive!

by kindagrumpy on 2012-10-29The Paramount - Huntington

Drove ten (yep, ten) hours down from Little Britain, Ontario to finally see the Girls with a backing band. Waited for them to come back to Toronto, but no luck... and this was the only way I could bring my 14 yr old daughter too. We LOVED it! From the Shadowboxers as the opening act, all the way to Tangled Up In Blue as the shows encore, it was incredible.

Not what I've come to expect

by help on 2010-03-23Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I LOVE the Indigo Girls to death, but this event was less than stellar. Firstly, if Sunday night is the only time you can book them you better have the show going at 8:00 at the latest. Also, if you're booking them in the Commodore the playlist better include some dance numbers so we all can get up and dance to. That "concert" should have been at the QE ...Please don't book it this way again

Excellent concert by veteran duo, songs old and new. Nice to hear them without a band, terrific musicianship and wonderful vocals! VERY happy than I attended. Great venue friendly staff too.

    IG were Amazing!

by LynEVEology on 2010-03-22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I haven`t seen the Indigo Girls since 2005 when they were here at the Commodore. Last night`s show was excellent, Acoustics were great, vocals were sweet, crowd was moving and singing as one. Energy was profound! Thanks to the lovely ladies who let me go in the front (being vertically challenged) to ensure I saw Amy and Emily in their glory. Hope they come back every year!

    Indigo Girl rocked the house

by Quant on 2010-03-22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I can't say I like all of Indigo Girls songs, but the song i like I like a great deal. Fortunately they played most of my favorites. Also, being a live concert you get extended versions of tunes that extend the magic a little further.

    Indigo Girls are still Indi-credible!

by Goferret on 2010-03-22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Fabulous! Haven't seen the Gurls since Lilith Fair and they seem more in sync with each other that ever. Incredibly talented! Their vocals compliment each other. Even the addition of BITCH was a refreshing flair of color! Fantastic way to end the week! Great to see the Girls back!
