I bought tickets to this concert not sure what to expect, but was excited because I love her music. It was a bonus that the super-talented Matt Morris was opening for her.
He did a great set, and seemed genuinely excited to be playing in Canada. This was his first ever Canadian show, so that was fun. Matt sounds fantastic live, and he did a good mix of upbeat songs and then took time to slow it down.
I have no words for Ingrid. She was amazing! The set list was taken from all of her albums, and there was a bit of everything. She alternated between ukulele, piano, and full band accompaniment, which was really nice. She also made it seem really intimate; she had several random conversations with audience members, told us some funny stories that she remembered as the night went on, and, of course, sung brilliantly.
Some surprising twists... after some audience members took her by surprise and started singing the remix of "The Way I Am" done by the Black Dice, she busted out into a spontaneous performance of "Ice Ice Baby" and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme. She also covered Radiohead's "Creep" and finished off with a cover of Britney's "Toxic" complete with a dance.
I would love to see her again. She's so genuine and has a way of making you feel like you're her friend, sitting down for an intimate performance. It was great!
Highly recommend.
