About

James Blunt (aka James Hillier Blount) lived all over Europe as a child with a father in the British Army Air Corps, taking piano and violin sessions and later learning guitar and writing songs as a teenager. After graduating from the University of Bristol, Blunt served six years in the British Army and was stationed in Canada, Kosovo and Switzerland, achieving the rank of captain before he left the army in 2002. The next year, he signed to Custard Records and starting recording his first album in Los Angeles. Back to Bedlam came out in 2004, with five singles including “High,” “Wiseman,” and the smashes “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover,” and received five Grammy nominations. With his endearing voice, poignant and sincere lyrics, and catchy pop-rock sound, Blunt’s debut has sold over 11 million copies. His second album, 2007’s All the Lost Souls, produced the hit “1973,” and 2010’s Some Kind of Trouble featured “Stay the Night,” “So Far Gone,” and “If Time Is All I Have.” The folky lead single “Bonfire Heart” premiered in October 2013, a few weeks ahead of the release of his fourth and latest album, Moon Landing. With a world concert tour planned for 2014, this charming crooner is set to dazzle ticket holders across the globe.

He was great - his voice was better live and his cody surfing.......... The only down of the night was the lack of audience participation - having seen many televised concerts where the auddience joins in the chorus - it appeared Rama had gifted too many tickets who had no idea who James vblunt was.

  • James Blunt was fabulous

I'm a fan of all 3 CDs and loved the show. Great energy and wonderful vocals. Sounds the same if not better live.

I enjoy ALL of James Blunt's music. I am a 42-year-old married female with 3 children. My oldest two children love his music also, but they were too young to come to the concert (14 and 11..... boys!!!!) Anyway, my other child is only 20 months old so he would be way too young. Keep making your fantastic music. Love it!!

This was a really great concert. He seems like a genuine person that enjoys his trade and wants to share this with his audience. I especially liked the 'crowd surfing', it was so cool.

  • Awesome Show!!

What a fabulous show! Went to the show with 6 friends, two of which were men and even they loved it! There is nothing better than seeing an artist that has written his own songs and sounds the same as they do on their albums! Worth every penny and would love to see him again!

Can only describe this concert as one of the best I have ever seen. My husband went along with doubts but he came out of the concert raving about the music and the enjoyment we got from this entertainment. Every song was beautifully done, even ones that I didnt know, and he kept us all so very entertained by his keeping the audience being part of the concert. A definite "must see" for anyone who enjoys this mans music.

  • James Blunt had brilliant moments!

by Gijildo on 2011-12-03Casino Rama - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

On Thursday, December the 1st we attended the James Blunt concert at Casino Rama. A big fan for years, I sang along to most of his "miserable terrible songs". His best moments were when he was on the piano, reminding me of an amazing television show where he played for an intimate crowd and spoke about his life. Not so overwhelming was this new image of a rock pop star, which required him to hop around the stage with a guitar and bellow out tacky lyrics. This made me feel like I hadn't really missed out by not buying his latest album. Overall, it was worth the trip to Rama and made me look for his older CD's.

OK, so last night i met James Blunt! Got to speak to him and got his autograph on my ticket....if that wasnt enough I was up front standing at the stage for the whole show :) When it came time for him to go crowd surfing he jumped over me and i had to hold onto his legs:) What a night! I am a lucky girl :)

  • Blunt about James

For being the final stop on his North America tour, this guy rocked, swooned and just plain embraced the quiet Vancouver audience. James (and his band) did everything he could do to get us off our butts and party and gave us his everything. I wish we could have given HIM more in return and hope for yet another opportunity to show him we love him!

  • Blunt...the good and bad

by WBVC on 2011-05-22The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Content of the event was great...did all the familiars..most of the content was old stuff. For me the issue was that the venue did not suite the tone of the event. As Blunt himself said he wanted to be a "rock" star not a "pop" star. The venue was the Ford Center..small, nice seats, bar/beverage area, nice washrooms etc. In this venue patrons usually sit and partake of a concert/event with some degree of decorum. Blunt quickly incited/invited patrons to stand and yell..and that is what they did. It would have been better suited for an area. So for most of the evening you had to stand if you wanted to see anything. However standing did nothing to block out the distraction of people yelling and screaming making it difficult to enjoy the performance. He also invited patrons to take off their clothes..which many women chose to do. It did not distrupt the performance but set a tone that I did not enjoy. I like his music. I did not like how he presented and conducted his concert. Next time I will go to David Gray and give James Blunt live a miss:( Too bad as I really like his music.

  • Let Me Be Blunt

by bayoubunny66 on 2011-05-21The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Most of the crowd was obviously there to hear "You're Beautiful". When this happens, when the audience is full of fevered anticipation and reacts with mass disappointment each time a new song starts, it tends to suck some of the energy off the stage. This reaction, though certainly present, didn't totally overwhelm the vibe. Mr. Blunt has a few albums out now and was able to mine them for gem-quality material that he tossed into the crowd like a mystic at a carnival. The lack of special effects was quite appropriate. There was no time lost to costume changes. The sound was crystal clear. The meanings hidden in his songs were less clear. That's the way we like it. You're Beautiful.

  • James Blunt - GREAT concert

James was amazing as was his opening act. I danced my ass off and sang along to every song - as did the rest of the audience. Thanks James!!! I'll be coming to see you every time you come to Vancouver!
