    Cullum is an amazing talent!!!!

by Jamiefan on 2010-03-21Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Jamie Cullum is an amazingly talented pianist and singer! I'm a classical pianist/teacher and I recommend all my students listen to Jamie both as a wonderful skillful pianist but also a terrific performer as well. His humble attitude and pure love of his art is truly infectious. I was most impressed to see many younger people at his concert and the joy that Cullum receives when performing the old-style to a younger generation. Wow he has truly made the right connection. That's a true artist!! It was a few years ago that a student of mine got me hooked and I've been a fan ever since. Please stay true Jamie and don't get caught up in the commercial evils of this business. Love your honesty and look forward to the next time you come to Vancouver.

    Jamie gave us everything!!!

by MissAnne on 2010-03-12Massey Hall - Toronto

I love live shows but I have never before experienced such an AUTHENTIC, whole hearted performance. Jamie strikes me as a "music geek" who so loves each sound, note, beat, pause, sigh, breath, tap et al. that he is almost trying to educate you, bring you into his passion. I would see him again and again and again and again.

    Jamie doesn't disappoint

by JoeMusiclover on 2010-03-11Massey Hall - Toronto

I hadn't seen him since he last performed in Toronto at the Phoenix. He was tremendous then, and he hasn't lost any of his energy and on-stage appeal. A brilliant show filled with humour and speed and bravado. What an entertainer! The new material was spot-on and he did a crowd pleasing mix of stuff from the first two albums. Everyone left happy I think, from what I saw. Glad I went. Will be back to see him when he returns. Terrific!!!

    Wowed beyond my wildest expectations

by LilRelly on 2010-03-10Massey Hall - Toronto

Massey Hall has housed some of the jazz greats, including the likes of Dizzy Gillespie in 1954, but that lavish concert hall has never seen the likes of the contemporary jazz artist, Jamie Cullum. The venue was filled to the brim with a crowd of all ages, who buzzed with excitement when the tiny crooner took the the stage. Jamie's performance was electric, filled with passion and energy. His setlist was as diverse as his audience; ranging from R&B classics like "What a Difference a Day Makes" to R&B Pop like Rihanna's "Please don't Stop the Music". He perormed songs from each of his albums, which allowed his listeners to experience his entire career in one night. I left this concert feeling like the world was overstaurated with colour and emotion. His performance captured my heart and held it for ransom!

    Wow! Wow! Wow!

    by kittykrazy2 on 2010-03-10Massey Hall - Toronto

The energy! The beauty! The music was masterful! My girlfriend and I attended the concert together (hubby's stayed home). I came home so excited about the night and regretted not taking my husband. He'll be going with me the next time. Oh yes, there will be a next time. And a next time. Do you get it? Jamie's show was worth every penny of the admission price. I regret not picking up a tour t-shirt.

I went to see Jamie Cullum at Massey Hall on March 9th, 2010. I don't know what I was expecting but the last concert I went to see was John Mayer and I wasn't sure how I would feel about Jamie cullum. All my expectations were blown out of the water. His show was UNBELIEVEABLE! Cullum is relatively unknown in Toronto. At a time when most of my friends are listening to the likes of Lady Gaga, Ke$hia, Rhianna and Akon (not that theres anything wrong with that) I think a large portion is seriously missing out on such an amazingly talented musician. He played most of his songs from his new album "the Pursuit" and there's not a single song on it that I'm not hooked on to. There's no other way to describe Mr. Cullum more perfectly and accurately than the cover of his latest CD "The Pursuit". ... EXPLOSIVE! One of the BEST concert experiences ever!

    A true genius!

by boraboragirl on 2010-03-10Massey Hall - Toronto

Jamie Cullum is a dynamic, talented and wonderful performer. He fuzes pop/jazz/dance in a brilliant way. His stage presence makes the show absolutely a must see. With a clear and strong voice he lends his own unique style to some old standards. His arrangement of Rhianna's "Please don't stop the music" is brilliant. The only negative comment I have about the experience was that the sound engineer had clearly never worked in Massey Hall. there were occasions when the instruments were so loud, it hurt. The volume was not needed for a hall with such great acoustics. It seemed to improve towards the end of the show.

    Sheer Talent

by woodsyallen on 2010-03-10Massey Hall - Toronto

What can I say, Jamie is probably one of the most talented performers I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Not only did he perform a 2-hour set with almost no breaks, his voice never was strained, even when he decided to sing without a microphone. What a man, what a show. I sure hope he returns again soon, as I'll be getting tickets without hesitation.

Jamie Cullum - Great Musician! Sound Man - A Hack!

by Jakeseye on 2010-03-10Massey Hall - Toronto

I've been to a few concerts in large venues lately and arrived at the conclusion that sound board operators are deaf. I totally understand the feeling that we must fill the hall with sound. Sound intensity is one thing. Distortion is another. Both Cullum and John Mayer (at ACC) were over the top. I feel cheated that I didn't get to hear the artistry rather an onslaught of white noise for the most part. The mix is one dimensional. The audience can't appreciate the colour, nuance or expressive sensitivity. (I know it exists - heard it on the recordings). I find it difficult to believe that musicians of this caliber employ hacks who most likely listen to music far removed from what they are mixing. Oh well.......I expected better quality of sound, but Cullum is an amazing performer - versatile, fluent, spontaneous and engaging. Now if he can just get a better sound man...
