A lifetime achievement for the star and the crowd
by Randy from Canada on 2025-07-01Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5Let me tell you, I purchased my tickets the day they became available and waited in anticipation; the whole time building up in my mind how good this show was going to be. Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra not only met my expectations, they exceeded them. From the moment he walked out onto the stage, Mr Goldblum had the audience eating from his palm, and they did so with glee. He has such charisma! I saw him at Toronto’s famed Massey Hall, a venue at which the well travelled performer had never played. That night, near the beginning of the show, he acknowledged a number of special guests including the parents of one of his band mates and his own mother- and father-in-law. Throughout the show, he told anecdotes from his career and gave background information about the numbers being performed, the whole time playing to the audience and really letting us know we were no less appreciated than the VIPs in attendance. As entertaining as Jeff was (and by the end of the night, I felt like I could really call him by his first name), his band was equally good. In fact, they were professional perfection. The five members of the MSO were featured throughout the evening as they performed numbers from their current release, Still Blooming. And of course, it wasn’t just the band that got to shine; they brought out a guest vocalist and a guest trumpeter who both illuminated the stage in their own right. My recommendation is, if you get the chance to see this outstanding act, don’t waste it. You will be entertained, you will be uplifted, you will be left with the kind of buzz that just doesn’t go away. Amazing.
