The music, energy and rhythmic vibes that Jesse and his band projected was phenomenal! Very interactive concert with tones of Gypsy, flavors of Morrocan and themes of Spanish strings intertwined together to create free flowing spirits that had the audience dancing and singing! 3 encores and standing ovations spoke volumes as to the joy listening to Jesse's music. Jesse's protege Matt Sellick was also outstanding!
Jesse was not idle during the pandemic. He honed his skills, performed online where he could, and wrote some new songs. His energy level was off the charts and his performance brilliant. The audience was moved to stand and clap the rhythm for much of the time. The band is incredible, and the individual musicians could easily be the headliner. I was able to focus on one of them at a time and be totally entertained; together they're awesome.
I believe some of the music played was pre recorded, specially the violin section. It was so obvious, the violin player was not even in sync with the music a lot of the time. The way he held the violin did not make sense with the sound produced. I am not sure how much more of the music was pre recorded but it was quite the insult & I could not enjoy the music anymore once I noticed it. If they can't find a good violin player they might as well just not do any violin in what's supposedly a "live" concert. The only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of one is because the music was actually quite nice, but pre recorded.
I loved, Loved, Loved this concert. Beautiful music, fantastic show, lighthearted and comical. What a breath of fresh air. Thank you for coming to Edmonton and sharing your experiences. Your music strikes a chord with many of my memories.
Jesse Cook was in top form again, and delivered a perfect evening of music. His musical perfomance excelled even more with the addition of very accomplished band members including Matt Skellig.. We can't wait for his next show.
Nothing more to say than it was a great night. Everything was on time, atmosphere was energetic and engaging.
This was a fantastic concert. Amazing guys, great music! we loved it! It was too loud though.
Had a little difficulty with Jesse’s diction when he introduced his band. But thought the new young guitarist, Matt Sully (?) was phenomenal! Jesse’s dexterity never fails to amaze me.
The performance was good. I’ve been a long time fan of Jesse. I was sort of expecting a little larger band touring with him. But they did great non the less. As for the venue. It was way too hot in there. Everyone around us was sweating like crazy. Keep up the great work and we will see you again!
There may have been a problem with the new sound technician at the Jubilee Auditorium. Jesse Cook would however have had sound control people of his own there too. The violin which could have been pleasant was bumped up so loud that it squealed.
It was absolutely a mesmerizing performance. Beautiful and sensational all around. A little peeved that we were not allowed to record (did it anyways, hehe). I wish that he played longer because it was just that good. I can’t wait to hear him play again some day. Lights, acoustics and microphones were all perfect.
Probably one of the best performances we have seen in years! The fact that he is Canadian was all the better, we really have some great performers north of the border that are no longer taking a back seat. I must admit Jesse does like to ramble on with his stories which some may not appreciate, we came to hear you play not to listen to him go on and on. The band was made up of some very very talented individuals, not sure the jubilee was the best venue as the violin player although being great was a tad too loud.
I have been a fan of Jesse Cook from the beginning of his career, so it was with great anticipation that I looked forward to his performance. Even with the frustrations at the rescheduling, I maintained my enthusiasm and eagerly awaited the evening. After the concert, I can say without hesitation, I would have waited twice as long and paid twice as much to experience it again. Without question, one of the best live music performances I have ever attended. My only regret, is that I did not have tickets for his next concert in Edmonton, the following evening. I would have happily spent the drive time, there and back, listening to my new Jesse Cook CDs.
The concert was amazing honestly it is the best concert I’ve ever attended. I tried to meet Jesse, but the management told me to purchase the VIP tickets but I couldn’t find that on the website!
Never seen Jesse Cook in concert before and when he comes by Calgary again will definitely go see him. Being a guitar player myself my fingers were sore just watching him play. Big Kudos to his backup guitarist, Mat a is great player as well! His band are the right fit for him, they played exceptionally great. He even did 4 encores. I bet his fingers were really sore at the end. You must see him!
This concert was one of the best I have experienced. It was long awaited and Jesse did not let us down. He and the accompanying musicians are so talented and did a wonderful job of engaging the crowd. I loved it!!! And it will be forever etched in my memory!!! Thank you Jesse Cook for being so honest and caring and sharing your wonderful talent. 🙏🙏❤️
He is so personal, so talented, and came back out for an encore twice!!!
Band was excellent. Came back for multiple encores. Venue was first rate. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Great sound, energizing atmosphere! It was wonderful to finally hear Jesse Cook and his band, after purchasing tickets more than 2 years ago
