Though the singing was loud enough, i could not decipher most of the words. I would love to read the script to get a better understanding.
I knew it would be good, it it was outstanding. Everything from set design to vocal talent. Clever use of props, how the priests floated as they walked. Excellent casting. I’m pretty sure everyone in the crew finished their job exhausted. It was definitely all left on the stage.
It was a wonderful experience to be able to see Jesus Christ SuperStar again, it is a powerful Rock-Opea, timeless!. The music was masterly delivered, but the performances not so much, not because of lack of talent, I must say, but because the “minimalistic approach” to acting and performing the songs making it very dull erasing the interpretation of feelings in the lyrics. The one that really made me sad was Jesus Christ with a guitar singing the Gethsemane, that was disappointing, it was downplayed, it took away all the power and vanished all the strong emotions in that this epic song and moment in the story. Mary Magdalene…beautiful voice but zero feelings of confusion, love, pain ….no feels when listening to it. The choreography in general was not good enough. I believe that modernity would have helped to enhance the play. It was so repetitive and boring. A bit more of contemporary movements with the right interpretation of the lyrics would have been fantastic, instead of those curved arms movements at all times. When Jesus is among the people with leprosy, he goes around like striking them with magic spells and not with healing powers, that looks out of place. I would have liked to see a change in costumes, a mask or something for giving depth of the situation. Caiaphas and Annas had quiet good performances. I did like as well the golden Herod, it was one of the best performances thinking that he did follow the music and lyrics. Again the choreography for the other dancers was a little odd. Pilates had good vocals but no impact on performance. The glitter instead of a real whip was not right, it was not a “magic trick” happening there. Vocals for Jesus and Judas were very good, I’d say Jesus was excellent . Always that I go to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre think about the bad acoustics it has, so I lower my expectations a bit, not a fair thing for the audience though, because you think Broadway is the best and deserves the best audio systems.

I'm a long-time fan of this musical. I liked the musical score, including changes. I liked the band in view on the stage rather than in a pit. Good singing and choreography overall, nothing really spectacular except for the actor and part of Herod, which stole the show in my opinion, even though there was a marked incongruity with the other roles, like he stepped in from another production. A bit graphic in places which I wasn't expecting. It ended abruptly and without fanfare. I would have liked a big JCS finale but I didn't really mind. I'm glad I went for posterity.
Am new to the world of musicals and this was absolutely amazing. Must see.
Performance was wonderful. I should have paid more for better seats. Up in balcony the acoustics leave much to be desired. Also maybe people should be reminded to sit back in their seats so everyone can see. But of course this is probably silly to expect 🙄 Best to buy better seats. Again the performance was very good.
Sound was terrible, you couldn’t understand the words actors sang, very poor musical , I am extremely disappointed
Call it nostalgia from watching the movie all the time as a kid, but this musical was like no other I've experienced before. The lead vocals were insane and the music was electric! My foot was tapping the whole time! An absolutely amazing show, you almost forget about the religious story around it. A must see!
Found it quite boring. A couple good songs, but felt like they were doing the same song over and over.
I found the instruments overpowered the singers . Did not do justice to such beautiful music. Seemed too stereo typed touring production
After hearing rave reviews for so long about Jesus Christ Superstar this performance was a real let down. The costumes looked like things from a second hand store. The first half of the show made no sense at all. The words of the songs were not clear at all so had no idea what they were saying. The person playing Christ had no presence or passion for the part. There were a few performers that were good. Pilate being the best. The final crucifixion act was very well done. All in all, for the price, it was disappointing for a performance at the Queen Elizabeth.
It was an awesome show, that took me back to my teens. Absolutely loved Judas! Brilliant singer. I liked that there is a parking right there and a restaurant to spend time before the peformace. Very convenient.
Venue was great & the talent was definitely there but found some of the solos so loud that i couldnt make out any of the words & wasnt familiar with most of the songs
Full circle experience and this new company of young actors has kept it true to form in a refreshing and amazingly uplifting way. The musicians, singers and dancer's choreography were SUPERB. Brought my wife who had never seen it and she was left teary and joyful for the experience. What a show and if we were living on the mainland worth attending a second time.
The performers were fantastic. I missed a full orchestra which this musical demands and would have paid more to have that experience. The staging with the performers on mic's was just weird and off-putting I found. All the performers made up for it and the cast got a standing "O" anyway. Worth the money? Oh yes, go see the show. It's a classic and with worthy performers never fails to entertain.
This forever classic is as fantastic as ever ! The music , the showmanship , the musical technicality are all fine and thoroughly enjoyable ! However , I find the set design a bit crowded and not helpful to the performers and dancers. This is not a criticism but a general feelings. And the reservation procedure is smooth and easy ! Thank You !
Jesus Christ Superstar was amazing! Such a talented cast. We absolutely loved it!!
The music was spectacular, very well played and very close to the original. The actors had a lot of energy and did a great job. A musical experience that lasts a lifetime!
