Romantic Interlude
by JSOB on 2014-11-10Arden Theatre - St AlbertIf you've only listened to Jill Barber then you were in for a surprise. She looks nothing like she sounds. This songstress has a wonderfully flowing and graceful stage presents that adds a sensual component to her presentation. Her voice is a composition of a little bit of Bernadette Peters and an awful lot of Betty Bop and Edith Piaf. Her songs nail the emotional pangs of a romantic breakup and the joys that everyday small things in life bring. Her interaction with the audience, especially her two youngest fans, was both honest and very personable. I think everyone came away knowing Jill a little better and liking her a whole lot more. Her band was tight and on key making the presentation both musical and professional.
