A Must for Pythons
by Jimbobogie on 2013-09-29Winter Garden - TorontoThe show is divided into 2 sections of approx. 1:15. It's a very simple format-he walked on to a standing ovation from a room full of Python fans. He spent quite a bit of time discussing his parents-information that, while interesting, cut into the time he would spend on things like his involvement with David Frost (although the late Mr. Frost did receive much credit for what was to evolve into the Pythons). Also a fascinating story concerned his work as a writer for Peter Sellers. The first half ended with special Monty Python segments. The second have opened with a discussion on the direction that comedy has gone in determining what is "dirty". He then got into stories about the adventures of doing "Fawlty Towers" and "A Fish Called Wanda". Unfortunately (and for this reason I only gave four stars), the show ended there, with no reference to his more recent work-perhaps (despite the show's name) we'll have another visit in the future. This is a man whose history in comedy runs deep and there is more to be told.
