  • Johnny Reid's new tour A place called Love

by t8ro on 2010-10-01Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Johnny Reid's new tour A place called Love is Amazing. From the opening act The Stellas to the last song the concert made you feel Loved and Happy. Johnny's stage is a beautiful burgundy with a heart theme. Simply dazzling. His band is filled with very talented musicians. From guitars, pianos and brass, the band has a very jazzy country sound. Johnny is very energized and so is his band members. Johnny even took the time to interact with the young children in the crowd. He told stores about the songs he had written, giving the audience a different perspective on his new songs. And his voice was simply amazing. His voice has a wide range, and his songs have verying tempos. He sang his popular songs from his previous album Dance With Me. He definitely had the heart of the audience by the end of the show. And his encore thrilled the crowd when he walked down amongst them with his last song This is not good-bye my friend.

  • He put on an amazing show.

  • Johnny's great

by edie909 on 2010-10-01Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

The show was fantastic. Johnny's the greatest. I liked the way he explained why he wrote some of the songs that he sang. There always seems to be a reason or an event in his life that he puts into music.

  • A singer any Mother /Woman would love

by elfin0505 on 2010-10-01Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I went into this enjoying Johnny's music, but not really what you could have described as a fan. Times change and so do tastes. While I have always enjoyed his music, I wasn't aware of the truly warm & friendly side of Johnny. I have a friend, who if she could, would marry him in a heart beat. Wednesday I was able to really get to know Johnny Reid. I loved his "closeness", his sitting up front and sharing his memories of the Grandmother that he loved (and still loves) and as he suggested, I can SO relate, having lost my G-ma at 99 1/2 years of age. I have to comment on the venue. I had not been to the Jubilee Auditorium since my son's graduation in 2000. The newer Jubilee is such a wonderful warm facility, seating was comfortable, access was easy and the sound was marvelous. The addition of the warm hardwoods truly added to the experience. Johnnie was humorous, eloquent and played to the entire audience, regardless of where we sat. I was fortunate to be in row G - close but not under his immediate gaze. I loved that he sat up close in a very intimate setting with his fiddler and 2 guitarists and shared so much.. I doubt that I will ever attend another Saddledome event. Thank you Johnnie Reid and your very tallented musicians and back up singers - you made for a fantastic event and I look forward to your next visit. I do have to say and I hope you take this as a compiment - you are this generation's answer to Rod Stewart - he is awesome and sexy and you have such an early start on that sexiness.. in short, you have everything it takes to capture the romantic heart. Cheers Johnnie Maggie

He is a consumate performer. Enjoyed his singing as well as his humour. His backup singers were a little overdone. Opening act shows promise.

Since I first heard this man sing, I knew I loved his sound, but listening and seeing Johnny Reid in person is way beyond better...This man has great pipes... I knew the singing would be excellent, I did not know of the humor, the humanness, of this man... His band and back up singers were very good, the whole show was riviting...And they were having fun...

  • Starts with J and ends in ohnny Reid

3 standing O's says it all. why not 5 stars... the sound was a little loud. The music took over his voice sometimes, and he is by no means a soft singer.

  • Connecting with the audience

by Timmer1 on 2010-10-01Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to lots of concerts but no one has connected like Johnny Reid. Never I have been genuinely thanked within the first 10 minutes for spending my hard earned money to come to the concert. It was heart warming and truly believable that he took the time to thank us all.

This concert was absolutely incredible. I've never been to a concert that was moving and unforgettable. Johnny Reid will bring you on his emotional journey and you feel like you know him on such a personal level. What a honest and humble man. I recommend that everyone must seem him before you die. It was a performance that will always hold a special place in my heart and I'll never forget.

Never got the chance to see him at the Casino and was so happy to get seats for this show. He seems so down to earth and interacts so well with the audience. Loved every song and wished the show had lasted longer. Come back soon!

Johnny Reid puts on a great show. He has many hits and there is not a dull moment in the entire show. Besides having an amazing singing voice, he is a great story teller.

We liked it very much. The whole show and the whole band. Loved JRs stage presence and his down to earth stories of which we can relate to some. Great singer, powerful sound and very talented musicians. He very successfully demonstrated many types of music. Hard to beleive he has been at it for 15 years. Absolutely wonderful.

I attended the concert in Calgary on the third night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Johnny Reid exudes a warmth and charisma that embraces the audience ... his songs are heartfelt and real and he's also a wonderful storyteller. Having nothing but praise for Mr. Reid, I have to say that the band [or rather the technicial staff] was not quite on point ... the music was too loud and at times distorted, and I am surprised that this wasn't corrected at some point during the concert. I also noted that while each of the band members was recognized on stage for his particular talent and expertise, there was no mention made of the back-up singers who also bring a special enhancement to the program.
