About

Johnny Reid on Tour

When Johnny Reid introduces a song, his natural Scottish burr is plain as day, but as soon as the Canadian country star — who moved to Canada as a kid — starts to sing, the North American spirit inhabits him. Reid's voice is full of classic country twang, but at the same time it bears a gruff brand of soulfulness that can sometimes make him sound like a country version of Bruce Springsteen. The band pumping away behind him sports a similar mixture of musical flavors, bringing a dash of rock 'n' roll and soul to Reid's countrified tunes. Never one to put on airs, Reid brings a guy-next-door vibe to his performances, no matter how big the venue, and even when he's got the crowd singing along in an arms-aloft anthem, he still has a way of maintaining an intimate connection with his audience on every song.

Johnny Reid in Concert

When Johnny Reid was a child in the small Scottish town of Lanark, it would have seemed incredibly unlikely that he would grow up to become a Canadian country music star — but that's exactly what he did. Reid was 13 when he and his family made the move to Canada, and it didn't take long for him to soak up the North American vibe that would one day guide his career. In 1997 Reid released his debut album, Another Day, Another Dime. It wasn't until his third album, 2005's Born to Roll, that things really began to take off for Reid; the single "Gypsy Soul" hit No. 12 on the Canadian country charts, and the album eventually went platinum in Canada. Solidly on the path to stardom, Reid went on to score a long string of hits in the years to come. In the process, he also managed to rack up an astonishing number of honors, including multiple Juno awards, and a towering heap of awards from the Canadian Country Music Association.

Music in the Fields was excellent

by deb24 on 2009-08-25Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

Music in the Fields was excellent. The setup was perfect, lots of washroom, garbage containers, excellent food and lots of variety. Also the beer tent was set up great, with checking the number of people who went in, and the number of people who came out. The line-up was very good, Johnny Reid and Doc Walker put on excellent performances, would have liked each of them to play longer. Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, it didn't put a damper on any of the fun or entertainment. The Stage was big and the big screeens were a bonus. We camped in the field across from the event and it was perfect, also the shuttles and buses were a great idea. A very nice town and we will definately come back next year. Give the Kinsmen a pat on the back, they did an outstanding job organizing such an event.

    Lucknow Rocks

by MarianneL on 2009-08-25Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

Johnny Reid was awesome. He sounds much better in person. The show was fantastic and I would recommend to anyone. Would definitely see him again. The other acts were very good too. It was a good day all around. LUCKNOW ROCKS!!!. You would never know that this was Lucknow's first event of this type. It was organized, clean, well thought out and the town was the friendliest. I was so amazed that they had so many buses after the concert to take people back to their cars. Again, well organized. Good WORK! I truly hope for another year of good acts like this one.

I enjoyed the entire event. The music was great. Tara Oram , Beverley Mahood , George Canyon , Doc Walker and Johnny Reid were spectacular. The atmosphere was perfect. There was lot's of food. Lot's of room to sit around and you didn't feel cramped at all. Next year I would like to try the camping. It was well organized , well run and a great success I think.

This was farmost the best concert we ever attended. The Kinsmen of Lucknow sure know everything and paid attention to all the small details incuded the best line-up of entertainers. Many thanks to all their volunteers who made the event happen. Johnny Reid also gets up close and personal with his fans. Along with the other entertainers. They make us all proud to be Canadian.

by Pudlo on 2009-08-24Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

We found Music In The Fields one of the best run shows that we have attended in the last 20 years. One tiny complaint............ Would like to see the last artist on a little earlier.

by Luga on 2009-08-23Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

What a fantastic day! I have to say this event was so well organized and the shuttle buses made it very convenient to come and go. All the performers did an amazing job and we enjoyed every bit of the day. As I said all the performers did a great job but being my second time seeing Johnny Reid, he is a must see for sure. I look forward to hearing the up and coming artists in the future! Well done Lucknow!

    Awesome experience! Congratulations, Lucknow!!

by Roonee on 2009-08-23Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

My husband and I and our two daughters, aged 12 & 15, had a wonderful time. . . the whole event was very well run and organized...the musicians were great! I could have easily done without Mr. Lahey and Randy from the Trailer Park series, since it was billed as a family event, but it was worth it to see George Canyon and Johnny Reid strutting their stuff!! Doc Walker was great too.....Tara Oram was fabulous, the other two female singers didn't do much to really entertain the crowd, although they are good singers....Tara seemed to be having alot more fun with us, that's all....Congratulations, Lucknow on your first Music In The Field event...we will be back for next year's line-up..... Thanks for a great weekend.....We camped at Silver Lake and it was wonderful......

    What a great day!

by jj13 on 2009-08-23Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

Johnny Reid's performance was outstanding along with George Canyon and Doc Walker! It doesn't get any better then this, outside in a field dancing under the stars listening to great Canadian Artists! The people of Lucknow should be very proud of their Music in the Fields! It was a very well organized event! The people couldn't have been nicer and we had the good fortune of staying at a wonderful B&B that I would highly recommend called Grassroots!

    Music In The Fileds

by Norma2003 on 2009-08-23Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

What an EVENT!! The Kinsmen club who organized this event need to be commended for their hard work. It was organized to the very end. They thought of everything. The location was perfect, the parking was perfect, the camping was perfect and the entertainement was the best. There was ample washrooms, food, drinks and even the beer gardens was big enough to hold the crowd that attended. The weather wasn't that great but it didn't rain. I have been to a number of outside events like this and have not encountered one so well planned in Ontario as this one was. Even leaving at the end....no one was in a panic to leave as there was lots of buses to get everyhone to where they needed to go. Best of all Beveryley Mahood, George Canyon, Doc Walker & Johnny Reid. Even the new and up coming has a specatular performance. The Trailer Park Boys did an excellant job of MC and gave everyone the laugh they needed. WAY TO GO LUCKNOW!! I will be there next year!!

    What could be better

by docwalkerfan1 on 2009-08-23Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

Johnny Reid, Doc Walker, George Canyon and more the line up was phenomenal! Performances were amazing. I would definately go back! Only complaints they should have told us in advance that chairs wouldn't be allowed right at the stage, I wouldn't have brought mine and autograph line shouldn't have been cut off so soon, Doc Walker barely had anytime at all to visit with fans, when I am in that line I am aware that I may miss part of other performances.

by Etaylor on 2009-08-23Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

Apart from the rain the concert went over really well. There was a good turn out and the entertainment was well worth it i would compare it to bayfest only more calm in a way. I would definately go again.

    GREAT TIME IN LUCKNOW!!!!

by Zoid on 2009-08-23Lucknow Soccer Complex - Lucknow

This was a great experience...the organizers did a great job. Everything was well marked so we had no trouble finding our way around...even the camping field, they named the roads after the artists (Walker Rd, Mahood Ave, Reid St. etc) & they were numbered reserved lots. There were shuttles that went back & forth from the campground to the concert entrance constantly all afternoon & evening (it wasn't too long a walk if you preferred to walk). Lots of portable toilets that were well maintained throughout the campground & event field. The folks in Lucknow were very friendly with an easy going manner about them. There was a large licenced area with very reasonably priced $4 beer. There was great lineup of music which could seen & heard from anywhere in the grounds. I would definitly go to a concert in Lucknow again.
