He hasn't lost his touch.. though I did wish the touch went on for a little longer! The concert was great! I would certainly go again. I just wished it went on a little longer.. wasn't too impressed with the amount of time. He can sing beautifully in so many languages! I loved it when he sang in Italian, spanish, french etc.
Saw the Julio Iglesias show at River Rock. It was a great show despite some technical set backs to start off the show with. The Entertainment (?) Manager was fantastic, he kept the audience occupied and entertained and they have a great policy in place in case anyone wanted a refund. A nice additional perk that they offered customers additional incentive by offering tickets for other shows. Julio put on a great show, great music and a nice theater size. We had great seats, third row centre stage; although I don't think there was a bad seat in the house!
Julio himself was personable and made a great effort in spite of a poor sound system that seemed to have gone awry. The tango dancers from Argentina were a great touch but the whole evening seemed rather lacklustre for such a famous star who travelled all the way from Spain for this performance. Maybe next time a repetoire with a few more songs that we haven't heard before instead of the repetition of old Willie Nelson songs. Also pairing up with his son for a song or two might jazz up the repetoire! Just a thought! All in all, the evening was a walk down memory lane but not as satisfying as the recent concert by another crooner of Julio's age, Englebert Humberdinck.
The concert started late due to the sound equipment not working. We were offered our money back, or to sit an wait - about 45 minutes. While waiting, they asked the audience various questions for prizes of tickets to future events. Julio was great. Still has his voice and sense of humour. He had the most amazing female backup singer who did a solo and a duet with him. He also had Tango dancers who were phenominal. Yes, I'd definately recommend his concert to anyone.
love the man,too bad he didnt connect with the audience.Stood very close to the band and at times looked like he was drunk.We had front row seats so we could see him clearly.
The Julio Iglesias concert was luke warm at best. The show started VERY late and Julio spent most of the time singing directly in front of the drums with his eyes closed. He didn't even sing some of his most popular songs! I must say that he was funny when he told stories and he is an incredible singer - but the concert lacked energy and sparkle.
