Good grooves but didn't live up to the hype

by jengerald on 2011-10-18Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino - Las Vegas

Overall concert was great. Highlights were the Sugar Hill Gang (they rocked it, or you could say rapped it, out of the park), Earth, Wind and Fire, and Turbo Beat. JT and Wayne Brady were good MCs, and Wayne's comedy set was awesome and pretty unbelievable. He's got serious talent. I would pay to see just him. However we were very disappointed that JT didn't play a single song or jam with any of the musicians despite that he had in all the previous years. That was very lame. Also Vanilla Ice was kind of offensive. He played new stuff off him recent album and thought it was appropriate to spray water on the people in the front rows if they didn't 'stand up and dance' to his music. Somebody forgot to tell him that those people paid a big premium for their front row seats and really they just wanted to hear Ice Ice Baby ( it was billed as an Old School Jam, so who could blame them?)

    Brutal and disappointing.

by swatson on 2011-10-05Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino - Las Vegas

Had been to other yrs which were grt. JT didn't sing this year at all, the other acts were poor, concert went too long and he didn't come out at end and say goodnite.... People were leaving and falling asleep! Too bad the charity will suffer next year.

Only concert I have walked out of early

by Streay on 2011-10-04Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino - Las Vegas

What a disappointment! The concert started at 8:30 and we left at 12:30. The sets were too long and Charlie Wilson wouldn't get off the stage. We don't even know if Jt performed, we just couldn't sit any longer. People were sleeping in their seats! It is tough to listen and watch one hit wonders dance with evil clowns in Santa suits screaming heavy metal rap music! And who knows if there was a special guest?

JT Concert weaker than in the Past

by CB08 on 2011-10-04Plante Hollywood - Las Vegas

Saw the JT and Friends Concert in Vegas October 1, 2011. Line up was old school (and I mean old). This concert is for a very good cause, but other years have had much better line ups. JT didn't entertain other than to introduce so that was a big let down. If similar line up next year definitely not going.

    old school ruled!

by loti72 on 2011-10-04Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino - Las Vegas

I attended this event thinking I would get to see Justin Timberlake perform. After five hours of kickin it old school with acts Color Me Bad, Sister Sledge, Earth Wind & Fire, The Commodores, Charlie Wilson, Vanilla Ice and The Sugar Hill Gang the lights came on and the show was over? There was no performance from JT. Not even a thanks for coming. JT along with Wayne Brady co-hosted this event and were doing a great job until the end of it. I really enjoyed all the acts but left feeling cheated.

    Sad, sad, show

by PrincessJP on 2011-10-03Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino - Las Vegas

First hour of show was very good, last 3 1/2 hours were brutally painful to sit through.

Justin DID NOT SING or do much. He did not even say good night Performances were good but too long. Started Late 8:30 ended 1:30 I thought he would sing a couple of songs. His on stage chat left lots too be desired. They had several tech issues Best Part Wayne Brady Charlie wilson

The concert format was different this year it seemed more night club -ish. I liked the DJ but was disappointed that there no surprise guests this year! Salt and Peppa rocked the house down! I am not a Selena Gomez fan and found her to be stiff and boring. Elton John was fantastic and he really brought a new element to the show. Myself and friends were disappointed that Justin played such a back seat role this year, we flew from Canada for his show and we all felt he could have played more or done a couple of duets with some of the performers. Excited for next years show we will be back!!!!!
