An inspirational, crowd moving, motivating hiphop concert. K'Naan knows how to put on a great hiphop show and the crowd was hanging off every word. Poetic genius. Awesome show!

    Knaan - Disappointing

    by Dopefull1 on 2010-10-03Kool Haus - Toronto

He showed up late, 30-45 minutes after his opening act. Played for like an hour or so, and left. Although a good singer/song writer, he's not a great performer/entertainer. Something out of his control: the audience didn't understand his lyrics. Metaphoric references to political and social problems around the world were lost to this crowd. Why do I mention this, because as someone who did pick up on the lyrical meanings, it was disappointing to see people not fully understand what was being sung. I wouldn't go to another show.

    K'NAAN was AMAZING!!

by Chloegirl88 on 2010-10-02Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

K'NAAN is an incredible artist with fantastic, moving lyrics. He is just as amazing live as he is on his CD. I loved the concert, it was most definitely the best concert I have ever been to. I love you K'NAAN!

K'naan was the best concert I've ever attended!

by Design25 on 2010-10-02Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

From the moment K'naan walked onstage his positive vibe was felt throughout the theatre. Throughout the cocert his energy continued to flow and grow. I have never felt this way before when way when watching an artist perform. He takes horrible life experiences and turns them into positive music. He is a brilliant writer and rapper and performer. I predict he will be one of the biggest in the world in the not too distant future.

K'Naan was great, venue was bad!

by nosebling on 2010-10-02Empire Ballroom - Edmonton

K'Naan is an excellent performer, every time I have seen him he gives a high energy show and sings from the heart. Sadly this venue was not suited to his style - too many people can't see the stage and were talking all the way through the show. He's much better suited to a theater - preferably one where people can get up and dance if they want, but also have the respect he deserves for his slower songs.

    Knaan

It was ok. He drowned out the wavin flag and take a minute parts a little too much. The venue was small. Otherwise, it was ok....

    K'naan Rocks the Burt

by Meggie2010 on 2010-10-01Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

I have been to a lot of concerts in my life and seeing K'naan at the Burt this past wednesday evening might have been one of the best live shows I have seen. When K'naan came to the stage he asked if we were ready to be moved and he moved us in body, spirit and voice. He and his extremely capable band engaged us and kept us rapt for the duration of the show. K'naan is a brilliant lyricist -- a true poet songwriter. He has the ability to speak truth while reflecting and respecting the depth human experience. A couple of small critiques -- the sound for the Lytics was the pits-- too distorted. We sat on the first balcony and could not decipher what the guys were saying. The songs seemed interesting, but it was dissapointing that we could not really tell. Sound was a bit of an issue with K'naan as well, but not anywhere near the same degree. I realize that I am not going to get the same level of sound quality that I might experience off of the CD but I do live in the fantasyland that it is possible. I have experienced it with other concerts in the past (Van Morrison at the MTS centre a couple of years ago springs to mind). Perhaps it is part of the maturing process -- I don't go for the distortion as much as I used to and prefer a cleaner sound. If you have the chance to see K'naan live, don't hesitate, buy the ticket and go!!!

    Shad!

by Gators on 2010-09-30Empire Ballroom - Edmonton

I think Shad K has some of the best lyrics out there and will blow up one day. I highly suggest you go see him or atleast but TSOL, his newest album.

    KNaan was bliss

by saskatchewanian on 2010-09-30Empire Ballroom - Edmonton

I assumed this show would be good...but it exceeded my expectations. KNaan is a poet and a lyrical genius. The ONE HOUR wait between Shad (who was also very good) and KNaan was a bit excessive... I don't think it was right to leave people waiting that long... it seemed like a ploy to sell more alcohol ... but he was worth the wait.

    Third time's a charm!!

by KNaanFan on 2010-09-28Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

K'NAAN truly represented on Saturday night at Malkin Bowl! The rain brought a magical element to the evening and after seeing him in concert 3 times this year, I have to say, this was an experience I will never forget! He shines his light so bright, and always comes from his heart. He is inspiring, insightful, thoughtful and a fantastic entertainer! He made a non-rap fan love to rap alongside him. Definitely recommend!

    Passable

by LimeGirl on 2010-09-28Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

I arrived exactly when Knaan started to sing and even though he went on and on on some songs so as to get people more excited, it was unnerving at times. Overall he sang really energetically and came across as a pretty cool person. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person with quirky/odd dance moves :) Lights and other technical work was unimpressive, below average. The location for the place was grossly inappropriate (no pun intended). Some wood trimmings to prevent people from having mud up to the ankles would have been nice, but too much to ask. If I could go back on time to the moment where I was purchasing the tickets, i would have probably changed my mind and not gone. 2 star event.

    Incredible. Amazing. Stunning

by FirstConcert on 2010-09-27Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

I was a little apprehensive before I went to this concert, because I din't know what kind of preformer K'NAAN would be, but he blew me away and more. The vibe at the concert was ... Incredle. He has a connection with his audence. He is an very active preformer, and he was bouncing around the stage the whole night. This concert was outdoors, and in Vancouver in September, that means in the rain. K'NAAN embraced the rain and preformed outside the undercover section of the stage. He also has a humor about him that I didn't expect and it was great. Chin and Shad were beyond great as well, which was a bonus. The whole concert was unforgettable

    K'naan did not disappoint!

by VancouverIdolfan on 2010-09-27Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

Enjoyed the openers - Chin was local and very good. I hadn't heard Shad before but will definitely downloading. Despite the skies opening up and it raining solid throughout K'naan's performance, it was a fantastic show. He engaged the very friendly though soaked audience ranging from babies in strollers to grandmas and everyone in between. The sound was much better than I had expected (I had seen a TUTS - Singing in the Rain which had passable sound quality at best) and K'naan performed most if not all of Troubador with couple of earlier songs plus a U2 cover. I particularly enjoyed the 'sing-a-longs' to Waving Flag and Take a Minute . I really liked his quiet poetic "reading" of Somalia - I had heard the song many times but the lyrics really lit up when he delivered them that way.

The performance was excellent . However the atmosphere was completely broken for me by the draconian security checks confiscating even small umbrellas and my tiny knitting needles in the most aggressive way. Even the Olympics, while preventing umbrellas from being raised during the performance did not make people go through the fare of trying to reclaim them in the scum of mud at the end. Not effort had been made to offset the affects of rain so the ground was a sea of slippy mud but a good deal of effort had been put into making sure that audience members were forces to buy any refreshments from over-priced stands. I would be delighted to see K'naan again but I will not be visiting the Malkin Bowl for a long while.
