About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

Unbeatable guitar player....best I have seen and heard since the 60". definately a MUST SEE act....Noah has a great voice....especially liked Voodoo Child, having seen Hendrix live it brought back a lot of good memories. Great to see such good young talent...maybe KWS is the Gretsky of the guitar. come back soon Kenny and Noah.

KWS was fantastic, his backup...not so much!

by Daytona on 2009-08-01Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Once KWS finally came on....we were fast losing patience, the music was phenominal! That is the reason we bought tickets...great guitar, the boy can play! I would highly recommend taking in his show and would do it again...however I would absolutely, without question find out if the fellow that was on before him was playing, cause if he was...I would have to re-think buying tickets. Whoever was doing his sound did a lousy job, it was too loud for the venue, the man, although he can certainly play distroyed a perfectly good familiar old tune and then tells us, at least I think that is what he said...that he wrote this one song....the man needs a larger vocabulary...a song really should consist of more than a few words repeated over and over and over....and over! Still have no idea who he was....mystery back up dudes.... Overall the night was fun, like I already said, we were fast loosing patience though as KWS did not come on till after 10...that in itself was a disappointment. However they played great and I enjoyed their music a lot!! Cheers!

    Kenny was smokin'

by Islander on 2009-08-01Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

With the exception of one heavy rock track from his 4th album, which was way too loud and out of step with the rest of the rockin blues tunes, KWS was awesome and Noah has a great blues voice. The band performed well. The mixing and volume needs fine tuning. KWS has the gift to pickup where SRV left off. Stick to your roots KWS.
