About

Kevin James began his career as a stand-up on the Long Island comedy scene. After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom.

The King of Queens, which premiered in 1998, ran for nine seasons on CBS with James starring and executive producing, and it garnered him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The show concluded its run in 2007 but continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world. James also starred in, and executive produced The Crew, a sitcom set in the world of NASCAR and is currently developing a single camera comedy (both for Netflix).

James brought his stand-up act to TV with Sweat the Small Stuff, a one-hour special for Comedy Central. Kevin James and Ray Romano executive produced and starred in the HBO Sports Special Making the Cut: The Road to Pebble Beach; a documentary about the Pebble Beach Pro Am Golf Tournament that was nominated for a Sports Emmy. His second comedy special Never Don't Give Up premiered on Netflix to critical acclaim.

James was the producer, co-writer, and star of the hit comedies Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 & 2, Zookeeper, and Here Comes The Boom. James made his feature film debut in Columbia Pictures' Hitch starring opposite Will Smith, and starred alongside Adam Sandler in Pixels, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Hubie Halloween. He starred in the feature True Memoirs of an International Assassin for Netflix, the independent action thriller Becky, and starred in and produced Home Team for Netflix.

    Disappointed With Kevin

by Matinelli on 2014-10-14The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - Syracuse

Didn't have his material memorized very well. Went to his notes often and took a drink repeatedly to hide the fact. Much of his material done by other comedians over and over. I think he spent 15 minutes of his 45 minute show talking about his kids. Done. Got it. I think I laughed twice over the whole show. His brother Gary Valentine had better material, and it wasn't that great either.

    Kevin James

Funny. Opening act was funny also, but show was very short. Kevin was only on stage for 1hr total show done in less than 90minutes. Tickets were pricey for that short of a performance. But he was very entertaing while up there

Kevin James is hilarious and down to earth!

by JayPea2 on 2014-07-19National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Kevin James was so very funny! I was really glad to see he was quite similar to his character 'Doug' on King of Queens! Great show, but it was too short... we could've listened to him for hours! Very good opening act as well. Overall, great evening!

    Funny but too short

by DynamiteMum on 2014-07-15National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Had a bunch of laughs and did have a nice time. James was funny and on time. Still, would have liked it to go a bit longer. No regrets, but did find the ending abrupt and too soon.

Kevin was really good. HOWEVER, it was too short a show for the money paid.

    Kevin James disappointing in Ottawa

by ComedyGalandGuy on 2014-07-15National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Kevin James being on stage for less than an hour was disappointing. Most bits were funny but we expected his act to be more polished. He seemed to be struggling to think of jokes and lingered too long on some bits.

    Just OK

by Twobridge on 2014-07-15National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Opening act was great, guy was extremely funny. I wish he had been on for 40 minutes. Kevin James was OK. He looked bored at times. Called a guy in the audience an idiot, which wasn't funny or appropriate. The set was short and not great.
