About

Los Angeles Clippers History

The Clippers joined the NBA in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, an expansion team located in Buffalo, N.Y. The franchise selected future star forward Bob McAdoo in 1972 with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft. He was named NBA MVP in the 1974–75 season, and remains the only player in the history of the Clippers franchise to win that honor.

The franchise, led by new owner Irv Levin, moved to San Diego in 1978 and was renamed as the Clippers. The franchise's stay in San Diego didn't last long. Levin sold the team to Donald Sterling in 1981, and he moved the franchise 120 miles north to Los Angeles.

The Clippers began their best era of success in 2010, when they drafted Blake Griffin with the No. 1 overall pick. One season later they acquired Chris Paul in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets, and "Lob City" was born. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs that same season, recording their second playoff series win in 36 years. The Clippers followed that by setting a new franchise record with 56 wins in the 2012–13 season, which began a streak of five consecutive seasons with 50 or more wins and a playoff berth.

During the 2022–23 season, the Clippers, led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, again returned to the playoffs. They fell to the Suns in the first round.

    Horrible

    by H on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Worst game I have ever experienced. Even though it is pre season, we paid a lot of money to watch the game. It looked like they didn't care about playing. Bad taste

    OK

by Gs on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

We were quite excited before the game, and it was fun to watch.. I believe granted how much money that people paid, having seen PG13 warming up but not playing was sad.. I guess they should make the contracts clearer with star players for these kinds of events. Also, security was a little extreme - asked to remove the hat and stuff. Over all it was pretty fun to have had both teams.

    Great game!

by Cixwatin on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Getting into the building was not fun for a family. Our kids made a poster for their favourite player and it was not allowed in due to the size. When inside we saw at least 10 posters his size and larger. Also my husbands bag even after being searched was not permitted. Seems like a ridiculous rule. The reason for no sign was apparently due to ruining enjoyment of the game. We watch games all season long and others have them all the time. The servers going up and down the stairs ruined the view more than any signs. Game was good.

    Van city basketball 🏀

by Shar on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The atmosphere was great for the kids , I liked how kids could participate during breaks , kids got free T-shirt’s etc , we took two of our pre teen family members it was great experience for them

    Over Rated

    by J. C. on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

It was an over rated and over priced event. Perhaps it was due to it being a pre-season game, we found it to lack excitement and tickets should have been half the price. We used to love the Grizzly games, you could tell by the lack of crowd returning to their seats, instead they were socializing in the food and beverage area. We left early, very disappointing

    Vancouver needs NBA!

by Reg on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Give Vancouver another chance, we need a team. A past failure should not reflect the potential future!

    Overpriced

by schow on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

This had nothing to do wwith the fact that Kawhi and his Clippers played poorly but is was a pre-season game. And as such, the price for tickets was ridiculous. My daughter loves basketball and I was wiling to shell out the $500+ for the experience. Well, it wasn't that impressive. I've been to other cities like Phoenix where the much less expensive and the same entertainment value. And to add to that, the food and beer prices are off the chart!!!

    Great game!

by Jennifer on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

We bought a parking pass with our tickets which was such a great idea... no line up to get through the metal detectors and in to the venue whatsoever from the parkade! Great game, loved the energy. Can't wait for NBA Canada Series next year!

    Low energy

    by taylor192 on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The crowd really makes these meaningless preseason games interesting. The crowd never got in the game like last year. Perhaps it was cause last year included the Raptors, or cause a lot of the lower bowl was empty (did this event sell out? if so where was everyone!), or the pricier tickets brought out less interesting fans. Whatever it was, the game felt more boring than it was due to the lack luster crowd.

    Loved it!

    by K on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I absolutely wish Vancouver has an NBA team, that said, the NBA Canada series pre season game was a joy. Had so much fun, and would do it again!

by Jesse on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Me and my son went to the Clippers and Mavericks game at Rogers Arena. It was a great experience and almost sold out event. We would love to see Vancouver having an NBA team. Wound by season tickets.

    Kawhi returns to the North

by JJ on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

There was a lot of hype around this game in the media and for Canada. The basketball savour much like the inventor, James Naismith was on in full form out on the court. I liked how they embraced Kawhi for his contributions for last years accomplishments. The game was slow and had a lot of errors but for the most part it was entertaining. If you are a die hard NBA fan this game had everything. The venue was charged and a lot of love was showed to the Claw. Overall a great experience and introduction to those who do not know about the NBA.

    Floor seats need some thought

by RunDmc on 2019-10-20Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Good to finally get a floor seat. Action was faster and defence closer than from higher up. However a simple 6” elevation of row 2 over row 1 and row 3 over row 2 would have been ideal for better viewing. It was hard to see over heads. It’s a venue issue never likely to be addressed for one game a year.

    Clippers-Pacers nailbiter

by BandB on 2013-04-07STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

My son had goosebumps being able to see some of the NBA's superstars in real life. He was impressed by how close we got to the court for the price we paid for the tix. Food at the Staples, including sushi and chocolate drizzled caramel popcorn, were reasonable.
