LAPSLEY IN CONCERT:

Rising British songstress Lapsley combines the minimal R&B of James Blake and the lush balladry of Adele to stunning effect. A BBC Sound of 2015 nominee on the strength of two stellar EPs, Lapsley has already won over fans across the UK, and she’s poised to make a big splash there and everywhere with her 2016 full-length debut Long Way Home. In concert she lets her dynamic voice speak for itself, performing with minimal backing accompaniment as she sings achingly beautiful tunes like "Station" and "Falling Short" with a bewitching blend of tender vulnerability and to-the-rafters power. Her music is soft and hushed, but Lapsley can belt with the best of them -- a fact she makes clear every time she takes the stage.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

York-born Holly Lapsley Fletcher was classically trained on oboe, piano, and guitar before she morphed into a pop performer playing with various bands in the Merseyside area. In 2013 she released the self-produced solo EP Monday to Soundcloud, racking up half a million plays and garnering the attention of tastemakers like BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. The attention led to a slot on the BBC Introducing stage at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival, where she performed to her biggest crowd yet and won over audiences with her impressive voice and futuristic R&B sound. After signing with venerable London-based label XL Recordings, Lapsley followed up with the 2015 EP Understudy, a critical success that landed her on the longlist for the prestigious BBC Sound of 2015 poll. With lead single "Hurt Me" from her 2016 full-length debut Long Way Home a Top 10 hit on the UK Indie charts, Lapsley has ticket buyers on both sides of the Atlantic very much looking forward to seeing her live.
