About

LE BUTCHERETTES IN CONCERT:

Outlandish Mexican-American rockers Le Butcherettes play straight ahead garage punk at their thrilling, horror movie-inspired stage shows. Frontwoman Teri Gender Bender looks like an extra from Sweeney Todd as she bangs out power chords and stalks the stage wearing a blood-stained butcher’s apron and zombie makeup. Bassist Chris Common and drummer Lia Braswell complement her demented visuals and raw sound by wearing luchador masks and pounding out primitive rhythms on each infectious song. Supporting Faith No More as well as headlining their own North American tour in 2015, Le Butcherettes are sure to bring their blend of haunted house visuals and punk rock aggression to ticket buyers across the country.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer/guitarist Teri Gender Bender (born Teresa Suarez) founded Le Butcherettes with drummer and high school classmate Auryn Jolene in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2007. When the power went out during a performance in their hometown, Gender Bender jumped into the audience and continued singing with a megaphone. As luck would have it, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of The Mars Volta witnessed the show and was so impressed he offered the band a recording contract on the spot. After Gender Bender added Chris Common (bass) and replaced Jolene with Lia Braswell, the group relocated to Los Angeles in 2009. Rodriguez-Lopez produced Le Butcherettes’ debut album Sin Sin Sin in 2011 while they earned opening spots for groups like The Dead Weather, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Deftones, and The Dillinger Escape Plan. The group’s reputation continues to grow as they tour and release new material, such as their 2014 sophomore album Cry Is for the Flies.
