    Great show..

by boxerbob on 2018-09-11Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

The MC was very humorous, though not on that long. Acts kept coming, with a short intermission to break it up. Was well over a 2 hour show, and worth the money. Would definitely see them again.

The show started on a slow basis, picked up some momentum but then lost it again later.

    Walked out!

by Worstproduction on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Worst production! I felt like i was watching a school play. Costumes horrible. Wigs were falling off. That was the icing on the cake! Out i went and walked out in the middle. What a waste.

    Legends of Motown live

by Jlouise on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I'm not sure what happen here but the sound mixing was brutal. I could tell if the singing was flat but it sounded like kareoke. It was the worst show I have ever seen.

    second rate

by bellabionda on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

the performance was second rate, most of the time throughout the show you could hardly hear what they were singing. the musicians could hardly keep up. I was looking forward to going as this is the music i grew up with, but I was bitterly dissappointed.. I certainly would not recommend the show,

Performers were great it's just unfortunate that the sound system was inconsistent. It would seem like that is a Sony Theatre issue and not Legends problem. I would have liked to have seen more props, the vocals were great overall except for the little Michael Jackson performance. Overall, I think it was a solid show and I enjoyed myself.

All musicians were great. The singers were fabulous. I felt that the band could have been beefed up. There should have been more brass instruments to enrich the sound and fullness of the music.

    Legends of Motown LIve

by dancintomotown on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Kudos to the performers on stage; I feel that they tried their best to give the audience a great show. Unfortunately, the sound was just not there. Either in volume or in feel. The very first number, 'Do you Love Me', began clumsily. The singers overall were good. However, if you're going to do Motown, I feel that you have to be better than good. You have to have great voices. Those voices are out there. I listen to a lot of live music in and around Toronto and in the U.S. The Four Tops tribute singers had lots of energy, the lead singer was authentic and really got the crowd into it. The musicians were wonderful, yet at times, the sound came across as too light. The Motown sound is BIG and they could have had more saxes, horns and guitars to duplicate the sound of the Funk Brothers. To their credit, they really did have the crowd on their feet particularly when the Supremes tribute was on. I also felt that introducing the singers as the original stars was inappropriate and it felt awkward to me.

    Missing legends

by Baum on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

We didn't know that the performers were not authentic, so that was extremely disappointing! The artists tried their best to give a good show, especially the ladies; but overall the show was very poor quality. The Sony Centre did a disservice to the Motown artists; lighting and acoustics were poor quality and unbelievable amateurish! We were in the balcony and couldn't hear the artists, unless they sang very loud. The artist moved along the strage but lights stayed fixed on middle and so the singer was singing in the dark. This was a very disappointing show! I was insulted that original Motown were represented as themselves rather than performers "singing as..." Marvin Gaye is dead, so to announce here is Marvin Gaye gave me chills!

    Good music, not production

by lizzie3180 on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

If you like Motown's music a lot, it may be worth it. For me, the male singers weren't great, especially Marvin Gaye and poor harmonies. It seemed like an unprofessional production with big pauses in entrances and exits, people being late and poor narration and banter between sets. The female singers were great and Stevie Wonder and the songs were good choices. The band was great too. The idea of playing many different singers works for 4 tops and temptations and girl groups. Should have special vocalists for Diana Ross and jackson 5.

    Not what I expected

by Nanadebby on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Unfortunately, this review will probably not be posted. I was disappointed in the quality of the show. Bottom line, the stage was bland, the performers, so so. I am a HUGE Motown fan and it just didn't cut it.

    They knew the words...

by MotownEraFan on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The band lived the era...maybe that's why they thought this would be a good plan. Likely more suitable to a community theatre or small festival...not a Sony Centre capable production. Often off pitch - amateurs. If you are going to "dress like the star" you need to have the voice and studied to be identical to that star.....I left at intermission.

    Legends Of Motown Live!

by Bolducm on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Although the performances were very good, and the band was spot on, there was a problem with the volume on the microphones for the vocalists. We were in the second row and other than a few instances, the lead vocal was drowned out by the band. Backup vocals were also much too low to be heard which is very unfortunate given the talent up on stage. There was no doubt that the performers were great vocalists, it's sad that some of those outstanding performances were lost due to poor sound management by the sound crew. To be fair, the vocals were much more prominent in the second half, but not as good as it could/should have been.

    Legends of Motown....save your money

by vira on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

It was awful. The band was older than me am I'm 70...the instrumental was horrific. Vocal wasn't so bad but definitely in need of improvement. For what we paid! It should of been free.

    Singing average band excellent

by Monsterwolfgang on 2017-04-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

You need good seats to hear them well. The singers were not bad. The old guys in the band were very good. People in the balcony could not hear or see them well.
