    Motown Review

by D. on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Don't think the mics were setup properly for the first half of the show as the main singers' words were over powered by the group and difficult to discern. The second half of the show was much better.

by Jodi on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The show went on for so long and the voices were hit and miss. Duets were not good!

Great concert. Sound in the first 10 minutes did not seem to

by Garym on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Sound did not work properly first 10 minutes. Other then that a great production and well reflecting the time frame.

    Great artists but poor sound

by T.Tom on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Excellent performance by both musicians and vocalists, bringing back happy memories. What provided a considerable distraction was the overamplified sound and reverberation that often made the lyrics and music blend into an unhappy stream of noise rather than music. The sound seemed to be set for an arena rather than a theatre, and as a result the overall experience would rank as a 7 out of 10 rather than a 9 or 10 which it would have deserved otherwise.

    Not good

    by K. R. on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The men were okay the women were very good. The mic 🎤 wasn’t working probably for the first half. Not enough groups or singers represented.

Legends of Motown @ Queen E Theatre

by Chukee on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

First impression of stage was poor design, too plain & too black, could have used more colour, more props & definitely a bigger Motown sign. Sound, which is one of the most important aspect of a concert was very disappointing, didn't have that punch, all instruments were sounding flat & at beginning of the show couldn't hear the singers vocals too low. I think a show like this deserves to be at a smaller venue.

    Good, but not spectacular

by Anita Chiquita on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The vocals and the musicians were very professional and great performers. The costumes were great. I especially loved the larger vocalist for his stage presence and showmanship. The MC lacked showmanship and that pizazz that made Motown what it was. I think a 20 minute intermission broke up the flow of the show, and people being allowed to dance at their seats ruined the view for the ones who were there for a concert, not a dance-off. If poeple had been dancing in front of me, I would have asked them to dance in the aisles as I was there for a concert.

    Disappointed

by Nelly on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

This show disappointed me. I expected more. It was not very professionally done. There was no pizazz and some of the singers thought they were way better than what they were. The fact that they used a female to imitate Michael Jackson during the Jackson 5 days was ridiculous. We left early. Not worth the price I paid for the tickets.

    Nostalgia

by PamC on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

This fast-paced, perfectly executed show, was a fantastic dance down memory lane. The performers played multiple roles, with voices and costumes that brought the crowd to its feet on almost every song. Apt narration led the audience through this magical era of Motown! Not to be missed!

    Great show terrible venue

by Jokoo on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The show was fun despite a few technical difficulties with the lightning and sound. The venue however is terrible. Seats are small and virtually no leg room. If you are over 5’6” your knees are jammed up against the seat in front. Temperature fluctuated from stifling hot to tolerable.

    Worst show ever

by Razr on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Wanted to leave at intermission. Gave it another chance Left 15 minutes later Poor stage Singing wasn’t good. They tried to say they were different people but came out in same costumes If this were a high school musical I would have been okay with it As a professional production it was brutal I have seasons tickets for broadway across Canada for the last 4 years and have been to musicals in New York and San Francisco This was by far and above the worst production. I have ever attended

    Disappointing

by Palcal on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I was very excited to attend this show and brought another couple, however was very disappointed in some of the songs. Some singers were very good while others were very pitchy and off key. At first I wondered if it was the sound that was off and I actually thought it should have been a bit louder. The MC talking about low flow toilets and 3 ply toilet paper was just weird and Left us wondering “Why? What was that about?”

Legends of Motown is a must see

by Old Guy on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I'm a regular Vegas guy and over the years have seen dozens of tribute shows. This ranks up there with the best. Great Entertainment

Great show and wildly enthusiastic audience

by Edo Monagas on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Missed the strings! Very critical part of the Motown "symphonic soul" sound. They could have at least had a synthesizer to more or less reproduce the sound! Other than that the band killed it!

    Music can change the world

by Motown maven on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

What a fabulous event! No one could sit still and the entertainers encouraged you not to. This music was so pivotal in connecting people. The Queen Liz was full of love ❤️ Looking for to more events like this in the future. Bravo!

    Mowtown in town

by kjdam on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Overall the show was great fun! The band were great and several of the performers were excellent. Unfortunately the performance was uneven - there were strange lighting issues, one performer arrived onstage after the number had begun, sometimes the back-up singers were louder than the main performer and occasionally it seemed that the guys didn't know the choreography. the pacing occasionally seemed off as there were gaps - but it might have been intentional it was hard to tell. The gal who did Martha was terrific and gave an excellent performance whenever she was on stage. Stevie Wonder was great and the back-up girls and some of the guys gave great performances. It occasionally reminded me of an amateur show where you can't control the quality. Maybe to provide more continuity and interest - during the segments where the MC is talking, or when more time is needed for costume changes - have a slide show of old photos and have the MC refer to the various artists that many people don't know much about. We enjoyed the show - but we paid a premium price and it didn't feel that was warranted.

    Very Engaging

by Pierre on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Should have had a program, so we could know the names of the performers and their backgrounds Could have had a few more imitations of performers Was a fun evening. Voices wee good, and being available in the lobby afterwards was a nice touch.

    It was ok

by Kalona on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Overall it was a nice performance but overpriced. I understand you have a lot of people to pay but $90 I felt was not worth it. Two performances I was not thrilled with. One was the Jackson 5 singing ABC. The actors looked shabby and pieced together like they shopped in a thrift store. One had such a huge fro wig that it looked silly. This did not do props to the Jackson 5. Another performance that I was not happy with was the Temptations singing Get Ready. The lead singer kept elongating the word at the end of each line way too long i.e. “Get ready cause here I cooooooome” Listen to the original and you will see that the word at the end of each line is quick i.e. come! The rest of the show was good but they need to sharpen up their act. Remember, you are representing great artists of their time.

    Chair dancer

    by J. O. on 2020-01-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

It was fantastic. The singers and band were awesome. I couldn’t keep still and chair danced the night away.
