About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

I have seen this production 3 x before - once in New York and twice before at the Northern Alberta Jube . This production was again fantastic, but for some reason the lighting onstage seemed consistently too dark , making it difficult to see at times from our seats. (Both times before I have sat on the main floor without this issue). I thought the sight issue was just me, but my young adult daughter, who had never seen the play before, voiced this same opinion before she knew mine. The music and sound quality though were outstanding.

Enjoyed this performance. Thank you. Would like the stage to be lighter and brighter to really see the characters at times when it was not necessary to be so dark. Would also like to hear less shouting to be able to hear all the words spoken, especially of each song similar to hearing the songs on TV, Radio, DVD, etc.

Les Mis was, as always a fantastic musical event. The music and lyrics sends one into laughter and tears with barely a break between. Have seen the show countless times and will go again everytie. For those who have only experienced Les Mis on the movie screen, please go to the live event. Infinately better and much more fun!

It was an outstanding and spectacular performance! Loved every moment! Certain songs make the emotion tremendous... I Dream A Dream, Eponine's Death and Valjean's Death. The death of Jean Valjean... there was not a dry eye in the house!

It worth listening for sure, yet I am not sure how different from the original version, it appears they changed at lease two notes (quite noticeable).

  • Great music with great props

I enjoyed the music and the sets through out the performaance. The Jean Valjean understudy did a terrific job but Jevert was mediocre at times. Our gruop was also in agreement, the percussion section overpowered the singers at times. Another negative has to do with the arrival of some late attendees who were allowed to come in and disrupt the ones watching the show.

  • Awesome event!

Two friends and I went to see the play on Sat July 13th and it was Fantastic! As a Stage Manager for a theatre society back home, I was blown away with the sets and props. I loved the projected images in the background. Everyone from backstage to on stage did an amazing job! The only thing was that we should have planned to arrive more than an hour earlier, as we got stuck in traffic and only arrived just in time to catch the opening scenes. All wrapped up, it proved to be an exciting evening!

I really have to say the performance was very good and the singing as well as the sets made you feel you are part of the show. With some light humor and good nature singing they really lived up to a excellent play. The first time I saw this musical was when it first came through Edmonton those many years ago when my Mother & Sister was alive and to see it again brought back those memories again.

Great interpretation of the play. The cast had high energy and you could feel it within the auditorium. Powerful performers. Well deserved standing ovation. The added special effects made it all the more enjoyable.

The musical was good, different than I expected. I thought there would be some talking but it was singing the whole time, and with what they were singing it made it hard to understand sometimes. The props, sets, and singing were outstanding. It was very well done but would have been better if we were sitting closer.

The performance was superb overall, except some of actors’ enunciation was not clear. The stage was small, but the acoustic was fabulous. It was a touching show. I would love to see it once more.
