Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.
Unforgettable! We laughed, we cried - we left wanting more!
Fantastic show! The sets are amazing and the staging brilliant. Having only previously seen the movie, I was amazed at how this show was able to broadcast the same emotions as a Hollywood movie. Well done!! The music in Les Mis is epic! All the songs were brilliantly sung and the orchestra was a wonderfully dramatic background. I don't know if I'll ever get the songs out of my head!
The overall production was amazing. At times I struggled to hear the actors clearly. I felt the sound was not up to the standard I would expect, but the show otherwise was spot on.
Really, really awesome. It had humor, drama, intrigue.....everything.
The show was great, although it did feel hurried, especially in the first half. The performers were wonderful.
Very disappointing. The production that came through Canada in the mid 90's was 100x better! I was expecting something at least similar in quality. Poor arrangement, poor vocals, although a better arrangemnet would definitley help the performers. The orchestra seems to over power the vocals. If you have never seen it before, and you knew nothing of the story, it would be impossoble to follow. I had to explain scenes to my wife or she would have been completely lost.
Amazing and unforgettable. I've watched les mis in theaters about 15years ago and fell in love with the story and music. This version lived up and surpassed my expectations! The staging and lighting has been vastly improved while maintaining the same excellence in music and acting.
Les Miserables was GREAT!!! The props and people were fantastic!
I've never seen a show so well done. The choreography, the set, the orchestra, the actors were the best and most outstanding performers I have ever had the privilege of watching at a live theatre production. I will carry thie memories of this performance and show forever
The set was amazing. The performers were amazing and, the orchestra, who never get enough credit were amazing. I have seen this show 4 times in the past 10 years. This time was the best. The performers were the best and the set was obviously updated. The lighting was amazing. ( pay attention to the sewer scene and javert's suicide. How did they do that??) A must see.
It has been 15 years since I last saw Les Miserables on stage. Though it was a touch fast paced, overrall, it put me in a roller coaster of emotions. The varied scenes were unique and special in its style and interpretation. I've watched Les Mis in its various forms from tv specials to movies, but live stage performances are much more interactive. The "Master of the House" scene involving the Thenadiers was my favorite. For anybody who has yet to attend live stage musicals, you must experience Les Miserables for its retelling of Victor Hugo's novel. I only wish Colm Wilkinson made a surprise appearance. Don't know the name? Better look him up. Really enjoyed the Cast & Crew for this performance.
I saw it in 1991.... But this recent production is wonderful! Must see!!
Great show! Singing, visual effects and music was top notch!
Seeing Les MIs for the 2nd time had me wondering if I would enjoy it as much as the first (in London - 22 years ago). It was just as good and the music was wonderful. I found it a bit harder to hear being in the second balcony vs. being on the floor in London. Took my 2 daughters and 2 girl friends. We all enjoyed it, but they found it difficult to understand some of the singers.
The woman who played Eponine (Briana Carlson-Goodman) demonstrated strong, vocal talent needed for that character. Cheers
Great show. The singing was fantastic and the sets were impressive. I would love to see it again.
I took my daughter for her birthday and we were in awe of the actors and actresses and the quality of their voices. I had seen the movie but it had nothing on this stage performance. Thanks for a most wonderful evening.
My friend and I had a wonderful time. The singing was amazingly done. We didn't want it to end.
I absolutely loved this show. I have waited my entire life to see Les Miz and it was even better than I imagined. Thank you for coming to Calgary and I can't wait to see it again.
I had no preconceptions about the show prior to buying the tickets, which I found very frustrating in that American Express Cards holder get priority with advance booking privileges and prime seat locations resulting in our having to choose a balcony seat over a main floor prime location seat. When the scenes were played behind the scrim it was very distorted to people in the balcony. The technical effects were fabulous, the voices perfect in every way, the acting 100% bang on, the timing of the various scenes between movement of characters and the moving set pieces was astounding, the stage, music, choral and technical direction could not have been better. The music was not really memorable for me, but I really prefer Andrew Lloyd Webber and that is a personal preference and does not reflect on the quality of the music. The orchestration was in sync with everything you saw on stage. Overall it was one of the very best shows that I have ever attended and well worth the 3 hour drive.
