About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

  • Les Miserables (touring) was absolutely fabulous

by LaurieMc on 2013-06-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

From the first haunting notes to the final bow during the thunderous standing ovation, Les Miserables brought it! This was a tight, professional, moving production with an outstanding cast and unforgettable sets and backdrops that really brought a new dimension to live theatre. I can't give this show enough praise or accolades - top notch - bravo!

  • bothered by Marius

    by andrea22 on 2013-06-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Everything was good, they changed a few things; the opening scene was on a boat rather than working the land. Overall, good, I just can't help but be distracted by Marius, who had a very high (girly) voice and was more of a comedy relief than a heartthrob. :( Music pace seems to be hurried... Valjean was youngish...

Strong voices in all performers.I was unhappy with the set which was too small for the Queen E stage and the entire lighting was far too dark . there was also a large light on the stage which blocked the view at times.

This was my second time seeing Les Mis-first in Toronto years ago. I took my daughter to the matinee-see was in heaven. We were lucky enough to catch some of the actors after the show. My daughter was able to talk and take photos of the cast. Very friendly and talented folks.

Great seats, the performers exhuded a calm demeanour indicating to us that they passionately loved performing the roles. We would see it again tomorow if we could. Jean Valjean and Javert performed their parts extremely well.

by Kaap on 2013-06-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 3rd time I have seen the Broadway show, not counting the movies, and the production blows me away every time. The story is so amazing, touching and mesmerizing and the singing quality of ALL the performers was above and beyond - ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! You cannot go wrong going to see Les Mis - you will be entertained to a great extent and I would go to see a production over and over if I were so lucky to see it back here again. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

  • Best yet "Les Mis"

    by sed1 on 2013-06-15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The thundering score and soaring vocals were the stars of the show, without a doubt. The singing was superb!! The sets and lighting were simplified to spotlight the music. It places a greater demand on the singers, who were certainly up to the challenge. I loved it! The best experience musically of any Les Mis production I've seen, stage or movie.

Amazing cast! Amazing set! The performers were all excellent! Awesome vocals! The production is as good as the Broadway play. Well worth the price we paid.

  • Well play!

Very enjoy it. The performers make it well done. And stage conductor is very well.

  • Les Miserables

by Dufferinhouse on 2013-06-15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Les Miserables may be a wonderful production for the theater however we couldn't understand the vocals as they were either drowned out by the orchestral volume, or distorted by echo and low voice levels. We have attended many plays and musical productions at the Queen .Elizabeth and the only reason we feel could be the cause of our displeasure is either the acoustics within the stage layout or the skill of the sound and production management.. The sound level in the second half was better but still lacking and the thread was lost due to our inability to understand the first half.
