    Les Miserables

by Dufferinhouse on 2013-06-15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Les Miserables may be a wonderful production for the theater however we couldn't understand the vocals as they were either drowned out by the orchestral volume, or distorted by echo and low voice levels. We have attended many plays and musical productions at the Queen .Elizabeth and the only reason we feel could be the cause of our displeasure is either the acoustics within the stage layout or the skill of the sound and production management.. The sound level in the second half was better but still lacking and the thread was lost due to our inability to understand the first half.

Excellent performance. The Auditorium Theatre is a a grand old theatre, my wife and I had a great experience. If you go, get the tickets for the Presidents Club, it was well worth it to take in the full theatre experience. My wife and I can't wait to go back

I love les Mis and have seen the musical many times...this show was again incredible. The cast had incredible voices. It was different without the rotating stage but that wasn't an issue. Loved it!!!

I love the Les Miserables Story

by AuntieMoney on 2013-05-10Rochester Auditorium - Rochester, New York

My husband and I saw the musical in Rochester New York on May 8. I first saw the movie with Hugh Jackman, and I really liked the story so I went home and listened to the unabridged book, 60 hours, then I fell in love with the story. I enjoyed the live performance. The staging crops were phenomenal. Some of the best I've ever seen. The voices were very good. One thing that I didn't like, that I noticed is that the tempo was faster and it lost some of the emotion when the characters were singing, and sometimes couldn't understand the words. Janvert did an excellent job. I wish that the director would have tried to pull more out of Jean ValJean, although he did do a good job. Again just love this story. So inspirational

    Les Miserables

by tkd2012 on 2012-03-05Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

If you have never seen it, you have to go as it is one of the broadway musts. Having said that, it is pretty heavy - I found Phantom to have a heavy story line and enjoyed it more. So, while I do recommend it just to cross off your broadway list, it is definitely not among my favourite.

We really enjoyed the Les Miserables tour at the Raleigh show last week. A few differences from the traditional. The biggest was the omission of Little People! Where did Gavroche's song go?! It was missed! J Mark McVey as Jean Valjean was fantastic. Bring Him Home was done beautifully. Most of the female cast members were excellent, but the male leads were all phenomenal. I was not sure about the modernized way of Javert's suicide. I preferred the traditional staging. The computer enhanced images were very interesting and added to the staging, overall.

I have seen 'Les Miserable' several times since 1986, in the 'West End- London, and am moved by the story every time. I have travelled a long way each time to see this show and it has been well worth it. The singing gives me chills and I come away with music in my head every time.

Les Miserables was a "dream I dreamed" come true!

by Dandred on 2011-03-29Fisher Theatre - Detroit

When I reflect on the performance of Les Miserables, the word "perfection" comes to mind. However, this isn't in reference to the many specific details and technicalities and everything else that goes into a theatrical musical as grand as this particular performance. Rather, I tend to base my opinion and idea of perfection on the overall feelings that this musical was able to draw out of me: feelings of awe, inspiration, and overwhelming emotions of both joy and melancholy. Watching Les Miserables was like having a metaphysical spiritual detachment, wandering through time to pre-French Revolution era, fighting for justice and passionately falling in love. This is why my thoughts of Les Miserables are only feelings. It would be destructive to the integrity of the performance to break it down and critically analyze its technicalities. Whenever I listen to the Les Miserables soundtrack or watch DVD versions, I get something different out of it each time. I would watch this musical over and over again.

25th Anniverary not worth my spit

by Anonymous on 2011-02-21Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Having seen Les Miserables several times, this version is a poor comparison to the original in staging and emotion. The main actors playing Valjean, Eponine, Fantine, Enjorlas were subpar. Javert, Marius and Cosette were only okay.
