About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

I saw it about 30 years ago and really enjoyed it. Would see it again.

  • Too dark!

by Stacieairdrie on 2018-07-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

The show was good, I recommend you watch the movie or read the book first as it is hard to follow if you don’t know the story. The stage was way to dark, from the first balcony we could not see the actors faces or expressions at times it was as hard to know who was talking/singing more lights would of made the show easier to follow.

  • Solid...Mostly

by broadwaydude on 2018-07-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

Story, music and on stage acting was amazing. Sound quality wasn't so good - very hard to make out the singers and it seemed like the speakers were far too loud to clearly reproduce the singers voices. If not then 2-3 lead characters were mumbling their lines most of the night. Not nearly the best production of Les Mis I have seen but it was a good time.

  • A great performance best viewed from first balcony

Excellent acting and singing. Just hard to keep track of who was who from the back of the second balcony. Binoculars would have been a worthwhile investment

We have seen Les Mis a number of times. This was a first rate production and worthy of praise. The leads were outstanding, the staging was excellent

This was our 4th time seeing Les Miserable on stage - and this was excellent. Kudos to the sound technicians - the sound was wonderful, sensitive and nuanced. I would like to give a shout out for the manager and his staff that helped us with a small medical emergency before the show - your professional care deserves appreciation. Your help not only saved our evening, but made it the more entertaining. Thank You

The performance was just as great as the first time I saw it in 1990. I would see it again in an instant. This time around it was for my children to see and experience their first performance.

Loved it from the start. The sets were amazing (congrats to the stage crew) and the music and singing was superb. An excellent night out!

  • Disappointing.

by TriciaA on 2018-07-22Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

The singers did not enunciate. Could not understand a word they said. Also the QE theatre has gotten very sloppy about letting many people in and out of the theatre all during the show.

  • Les mis - powerful!

by lovethosemusicals on 2018-07-21Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I had never seen the the movie. Never seen the musical. Only had a sketchy idea of the story. The production here in Calgary was amazing, moving, and ultimately uplifting. Well done all.

  • Beautiful

by Atee on 2018-07-21Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

My first time seeing Les Miserables ... it was beautiful; a heart-wrenching but soulful story that deserves it's top billing. Broadway Across Canada (America) typically brings together a very talented cast with wonderful costumes, stage settings, lighting and sound, and this production was no exception. The sound mixing was commendable with the right balance of being able to hear the vocals along with the talented orchestra. If you've never seen Les Miserables before, be sure to read the storyline synopsis in the program guide before the show begins.

  • Les Mis

by RachelleBrown on 2018-07-21Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

I truelly enjoyed the play but the only thing I can honestly say was the lighting was terrible. It was very dark and for that I can’t give it a 5 Star

  • absolutely breathtaking

This is my third time seeing Les Mis and probably my most favorite. The production was impressive to say the least. The set was magnificent and the performers were incredible, especially young Cosette! It really took me to another world. I simply loved the ending as well. Highly recommended!
