Mariah Carey and Lionel Richie make a great team. Both gave an awesome performance.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to see Lionel Richie and was pleasantly surprised and glad that I went. As far as I was concerned, he put on a terrific show. I thought I would be sitting for most of the show but he had the crowd up and dancing on many occasions. Lots of energy, fun and repoire with the crowd. I'm read a review of Lionel's show in another city which didn't give up a good review which leaves me wondering what show did that guy see as I had a good time. I would see him again if he came to town. Unfortunately Mariah was a different story. I really don't know her music and hence didn't find her show that inspiring. Some people beside us did. She didn't run around the stage like Lionel (perhaps it was because she was in heels and in a diva type outfit. I would not go to see her again.
Just goes to show that at 68, Lionel Ritchie can put on a show! Worth every penny !!!
I don't go to concerts because of the pot smoke And thank God there wasn't any at this event.I would go see Lionel again.
Lionel Ritchie exceeded all expectations - tremendous performer, engaging the audience - how can one sit still listening to his music!!
Lionel Richie hie was so engaging and good. He did all kinds of songs. He had the whole audience sing a long. His musicians were outstanding. The special effects were great.
The concert started at 7 pm, and the 1st 2 hours were completely wasted for me. First guy (opening act) was OK, but not worth really showing up for him. Then there was 30 minutes break and prima donna Mariah Carey was " delivered" to the stage on the throne (!). The music was so loud, and the vibration so hard, that we couldn't hear much of what she was saying or singing. She sang couple of her old songs and a few newer ones, there was nothing really entertaining about her performance except constant change of fabulous dresses. I think it's time for her to move to Las Vegas' permanent stage along with other mediocre previously famous singers and actors. However, when Lionel Richie jumped out on the stage, that when the show really started: it was so much fun! He was so energetic, telling jokes and funny stories, and singing and dancing and all audience was dancing with him. I am about 20 years younger than him, but I definitely don't have that much energy and I am not as fit as he is at his age. Fabulous show! I wish I came 2 hours later, at 9 pm, and didn't have to listen to the previous artists. I enjoyed last 2 hours a lot, that was well worthy my money.
Mariah Carey was ok but Lionel Richie was absolutely amazing. Loved the big screen and light show. Kept everyone singing and dancing.
I went for Mariah and stayed for Lionel! Mariah Carey was alright nothing spectacular but Lionel Richie was amazing! I have never been a huge Richie fan, not because I didn't like his music but just because it wasn't what I sought out. After this concert though I would definitely go see him again! He is very interactive and puts on an amazing show, if his music career hadn't worked out he could have been a comedian. I would highly recommend him!
Danced sang smiled laughed reminisced...a genuine engaging and gifted musician
Lionel was fantastic and his band, was worth the wait from April, great entertainer
Lionel seemed to give it all that he had but I found his between set dialogue course and circus like. I guess that was his way of trying to pump the audience up, but unless you wanted to attend an episode of the newlywed game it wasn't my taste. He seemed a bit strained in his voice on some sets. Overall though, I am glad I attended as he is a music icon.
Very entertaining: memorable songs performed by a legend. Big background screens, which made for an exciting experience and made you part of it, despite having low-end seats. Mariah Carey made for a fun warm-up, though after a while I had enough of her songs.
I loved the show amazing music. it was a really good time. I loved Lionels sense of humor just fantastic
My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful show from Lionel Richie. He has a great personality and, of course, sang all his well known songs. The lighting was fantastic and added to our enjoyment of the show.
Lionel Richie put on the best concert I've EVER been to. I wasn't there to see Mariah but I guess if you're a fan, you would like her. I did not. The only complaint I had was that I had paid big money for a meet and greet with Lionel but I got lost at Rogers Place and as mis-directed by Rogers staff about how to get back to the Priority area. No one seemed to know whgere it was. I missed the meet and greet totally. Lionel was so engaging and personable and has the most wonderful voice. I would go to see him again in a minute. I would like some money back though for missing the meet and greet. So disappointing!
Lionel Richie was amazing, Mariah Carey sucked. Lionel went through all his hits and was great. Miraiah was just plan bad. She says she isn't a diva, but that and her are crap.
Lionel Richie was magnificent as always, he is an awesome performer
Great show. He knew how to play the crowd. How could anyone not like Lionel. He entertained for just over 90 minutes and could have been longer with his repertoire of hits. Only complaint is occasionally the bass drowned out Lionel's voice.
Lionel was on point as he always is. Same set as his last concert at Rodgers. Not a Mariah fan but did like the way she had her kids on stage with her. To experience the Vancouver crowd. Only draw back was people from further back coming to the front and blocking people's view. Better stewarding of this should be looked at. But a great night was had.
