About

Though still a teenager Lorde is swiftly establishing herself as a mighty force on the music scene, co-headlining shows with established acts like Vampire Weekend and Arctic Monkeys.

The young yet prolific New Zealand-born singer/songwriter, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, released her first EP The Love Club, her first No. 1 single "Royals", and her first album Pure Heroine back-to-back-to-back. Her sound is a sparse affair that confidently drifts on the strength of beats, loops, and phenomenal vocals.

The pop and alternative worlds don't always mix, but fans of both styles have flocked to Lorde's electropop-driven sound and soulful voice. And despite her pop successes she's managed to craft a bit of an anti-pop image for herself, not afraid to sound off with opinions - both good and bad - about fellow young stars. Fans who've bought tickets to see Lorde in concert rave about her raw talent while looking forward to watching her grow as an artist and performer.

Lorde was discovered when she was just 12, after her performance of the Duffy song "Warwick Avenue" at a school talent show caught the ear of a record label talent scout. When she's not writing music Lorde listens to pop, hip hop, and electronic music and cites soul legends like Otis Redding as well as modern acts like Bon Iver and James Blake among her influences.

    BEST.SHOW.EVER!!!!!!

by jamie on 2022-04-11Meridian Hall - Toronto

I attended both nights of the Solar Power tour and it was quite literally the best concert experience ever (so far)!!!!!! The crowd was energetic, Lorde is a natural born performer, the set design was INSANE, the venue was intimate yet big enough for a large crowd. When she started shushing people on night 2 I thought we were gonna get another “Writer in The Dark” moment but we didn’t :((( If Lorde ever comes back to Toronto take all my money. I’ll sell my soul to see Ribs and Liability live again

Absolutely the Best Concert I've Ever Attended!!!

    by OFFI X 2. on 2022-04-11Meridian Hall - Toronto

We caught Remi Wolf's set after it started, which was just after 7:30PM. We enjoyed a good portion of it. Sadly, all of the communications received stated the evening's festivities would begin @ 8.00PM, which turned out to be wrong. What an evening it was! It was almost spiritual and cosmic in nature. The stage presentation was the best I've ever seen. The entire evening was truly magical. Part way through the show I'm thinking, "This reminds me of someone else's staging influences. Who?" Then it hits me that Mr.Bowie would definitely approve of the work and influences Ms. Ella has put into the Solar Power 2022 Tour. The "confetti" was also a nice touch! All Hail Lorde!

    Incredible

by Lauren on 2022-04-11Meridian Hall - Toronto

Lorde is an amazing performer but crowd was strange. Maybe it’s a lot of teenagers first concert or maybe it’s just their first concert post-COVID but some of them don’t know basic etiquette and it can really ruin a show.

    The Best Concert Yet!

    by Bfw01 on 2022-04-11Meridian Hall - Toronto

I saw Lorde in 2018 at Scotiabank Arena (Toronto) and saw her perform at Meridian Hall in 2022. Both were phenomenal BUT… the smaller venue provided a much more intimate experience. Her sound quality also seemed even better! I felt like she was performing for ME she was so close to the audience and she truly cares about her fans. She made great use of her stage set-up and her voice is impeccable. I can’t wait to see her again! I’ve been to about 10 concerts in my life and this one has been the best concert to-date! Bravo! What a delight.

    by Hunter F. on 2022-04-10

Honestly one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Lorde was able to make Meridian Hall not only feel warm and inviting, but fun and friendly. If you’re even slightly a fan, I would recommend seeing her live.

    Great show!!

    by Tryad E on 2022-04-09

First time in Meridian Hall, really nice venue. Went with a couple of friends who really didn’t listen to her music but left as very impressed fans. The show itself was great with a good mix of old and new material. The audience was a good mix of people and were high energy from start to finish. Highly recommend going if you can.

Lords is a great performer I just didn't like the slow pace of a lot of her songs. I went to see Run The Jewel's and they were fantastic.

Lorde - a true good witch

by melodramaforever on 2018-04-02Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Lorde, a witch, a good witch, made me cry 4 times throughout the show. One of the best live concerts I've ever been to, if not the best. With her minimal set production, she wowed the crowed with a simple box that she and her dancers incorporated, showcasing a merge between time and space. She knew how to connect with the crowd, with moments before "Writer in the Dark" when she talked to the crowd, making it seem like it was just us and her in her living room. Best moment of the show was "Green Light." Anyone who's seen her perform that song live knows that she brings this euphoric feeling that will make you both dance and cry at the same time. Melodrama forever.

    Great Show!

by jasminpettie on 2018-04-01Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Lorde did a great show! She has an amazing voice and you could hear her full range when she sang. Her backup dancers performed a kind of avant garde interpretive art show. It was really neat. My seats were good. The only detractions were that people in the row in front of me had had way too much to drink and were yelling obnoxiously at weird times and then someone below them lit up a joint that was really strong. The ACC needs to do a better job of policing people so they don't ruin the show for others.

Lorde made the ACC feel like a small venue!

by KathL on 2018-04-01Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Lorde played a solid show, singing the whole Melodrama album, and many from Pure Heroine, interacting with the crowd in a genuine way and sincerely thanking us for being there.
