a privilege to watch two fantastic musicians

by cordite on 2017-03-09Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Think of those times when you watch a fabulous concert unfolding on PBS and you see shots of audience members enraptured by the sheer talent they are watching. This was a concert just like that ! Effortless delivery, incredible guitar work and lyrics , these guys are pure music. Even when just one of them was singing and playing you would swear that there were three or four guitarists in on the act, with the rhythms, base lines and melodies that came at you. As for lyrics, well Mr Cohen (rest his soul) gets a run for his money from either of them. You can't teach the sort of stuff they write and some of the lines become an instant part of your own repertoire. They are two old friends, relaxed and confident in what they do , their banter let us into their creative and day-to-day world and I felt that I had been invited to a private concert. Thank you Lyle and John for a performance I will remember as one of the best I have ever seen.

    John and Lyle

by froge2 on 2017-03-09Northern Jubilee Theatre - Edmonton

This concert was amazing!! It was like sitting in your livingroom listening to your friends jam. They harmonized so well together. Loved how they bantered with each other between songs. Thought Lyle may have been singing before Lyle with a band but what we got was even better! The only downside to it, we were hoping for a few of the oldie songs by John which he chose not to do. Other then that it was awesome!! Love both their voices.

    Casual fan disappointed

by Aldergrovian on 2017-03-09Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Well, I'm a little more critical than some on the show. I enjoyed Lovett and his stories. The jury is out on Haitt and his failing voice. Pretty expensive for just two guys on a stage. We paid a little bit more last summer and saw Paul Simon and his 12 piece band. Little better value and entertainment. But still, I can now say that I've seen Lovett and Haitt.

Lyle and John were great company

by Ladyvan on 2017-03-09Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Beautiful night with Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt. Such respect between the two artists was a joy to see and hear. It was very much like being in a living room with two old friends who told stories and broke into song. They share the stage and music beautifully. I left feeling like I'd been to a fun, small party with these two masters.

Fantastic show, like sitting in their living room

by Sete on 2017-03-07Queen Elizabeth theatre - Vancouver

I knew we were in for a treat when I saw 8 acoustic guitars and two stools lined up on stage and these two old pro's did not disappoint. They took turns trading songs and it was like you were sitting in their living room with them. The unplugged acoustic format really showcases the incredible singer/ song writing talent of these two guys. Loved it! Lyle has incredible vocal range and Johns crusty voice matched with some fine guitar licks and harp playing all made for a great show.

These guys are talented but could have better prod

by Herbie99 on 2017-03-06Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I wish these guys would shell out the extra few bucks and get a band to back them, and put on a more professional show...Sitting down with an acoustic guitar bantering back and forth with each other might work in a 100 or 200 seat venue, but not in a 3000 seat one. You guys are good, but not that good...Bottom line, but the cd and skip the concert

Lyle Lovett and John Hyatt - outstanding show

by Harleyman4345 on 2017-03-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This show was absolutely unforgettable. We saw the show at the Jubillee Auditorium in Edmonton. The sound was outstanding. Lyles voice was so pure and no shortage of musical talent on stage. I really appreciated the banter between the two and the alternation of different musical talent . Two and a half hours of great music . Thanks guys.

An Evening With Lyle and John was awesome!!

by froge2 on 2017-03-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I have been to a few concerts but this was one of the best we saw!! It was amazing just to see the two together period never mind anything else! It was so relaxing like you had two friends over for the evening who were just jamming. Loved the way they chided each other, harmonized so well together. There wasn't anything about the concert we didn't like except there were no CD sells afterwards. Absolutely loved the show and am so happy my husband and I were able to make it!!

    A perfect evening

by Froggie63 on 2017-03-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

A perfect evening was had when we saw Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt. Both men were in suits and ties, sitting in chairs with their group of guitars and talking to each other about life. We felt like we were in one of their living rooms, chatting and enjoy the music of both of these prolific singer/song writers. I can't think of a better way to spend an evening that with these two icons of the music industry. We have seen both before and, as in the past, they didn't disappoint. They brought their A game and we were swept away in so many songs we knew and loved. I highly recommend you rush right out and buy tickets to see them on tour. You will never regret doing so. Lyle and John, I tip my pork pie hat to you both. :)
