A truly amazing show by two iconic troubadours. Thank you Lyle and John.
Quite familiar with John Hiatt, but not so with Lyle Lovett, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. I'm happy to say we were pleasantly surprised ! Very entertaining, an awesome display of musicianship as well as interesting banter between the two. I say they are a perfect team & highly recommend catching them in concert. The Jubilee auditorium was a perfect venue for a concert such as this where sound was paramount. Only con- ran a little long for myself without an intermission.
Such amazing musicians!! But such horrendous sound. The auditorium sound staff should be ashamed. These two men are beyond talented but they didn't sound even remotely close to how great their last concert was here.
The format was great. Two seasoned professionals with charm and wit, sharing the stage and performing amazing music interspersed with funny chitchat. It is such a pleasure to watch confident entertainers perform at their best.
Super disappointed in this show. No band...No guitar tech to tune instruments, lots of conversation however mic's were so low, could not hear anything in balcony of what they were saying.Lyle Lovett carried the show and was very good. John was on my bucket list to see and I thought he was really off his game. Strange chords to most popular songs.....tunes and arrangements were a far stretch from his originals.
A very interesting, entertaining, enjoyable evening.
Very good show. These two are meant to play together. Guitar work by both is outstanding and the joking and stories were great
Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt can still entertain! Both are great musicans, songwriters and entertainers, the evening ended too soon and they were on 2 1/2 hrs.. We highly recommend their show.
Have been a long time fan of both musicians and have seen both play 2x with their own bands. This evening was like being invited to a friends house and watching a couple of guys perform and share anecdotes. It probably goes without saying but the music and musicianship were incredible. Both artists were just right on the money with their singing and playing. Kudos to the sound team as the acoustic guitars were so clean and articulate. Easily the best live acoustic sound I've ever heard. Both men exchanged low key anecdotes and it is clear LL is a very, very witty man. Dry wit and facial expressions he had the audience cracking up throughout. In total they were on stage almost 2 1/2 hours but it went by so fast. My favourite moment was when LL was singing back up on one of the last JH songs. He really put his voice out there in a R&R howl context. Superb. I've never heard him sing anything remotely resembling like that. Shockingly good R&R singer! Go, just go!
Saw these 2 perform a similar show about 10 years ago. Just what I expected... great music, banter and a bit of storytelling. Not a rocking show but not one to be missed
What a sweet perfectly matched pair. Both true originals, both striking songwriters and both gifted guitarists. Their affection for one another & their knowledge of, and love for, Winnipeg imbued the show with a gentle, local, house-concert feel. Well done lads.
A fantastic evening. Two master craftsman who were spellbinding. Over two hours that seemed to pass in about 15 minutes.
Two legendary talents, up close and intimate, highlighted by what looked and felt like unscripted banter.
"what more could be said" Arriving at the show the lobby was filled with all walks of life.People mulling about with smiles and anticipation .Show call was made and off we all ran for our seats. The duo walked out to a cheering crowd and Lyle spoke and John fallowed.Hiat opens with a great number and he is spot on.Oh what a night we are in for.A little banter o howf cold it was and it was. Then lyle starts.Another great number ,and you know this is just going to get better. The pair did not disappoint one bit. Song after song and the styles blended tightly together and the show ran for what seemed like only minutes. Two plus hrs latter they were gone into the cold Winnipeg night.Smiles brighter and chatter about a great show could be heard into the night. Lovett & Hiat have played many times together and it shows. There is a warm sense of true friendship you get when you see them smile at each other. Two fantastic players that never seem to disappoint.Spend the money well worth every penny to see and hear such seasoned performers.I will never miss a chance to see either of these two.Solo or as a Duo they deliver a warm fantastic night of music.Loved the show from start to finish. AWESOME 10 out of 10 JDsteal
Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt left fans feeling immersed in history, in americana roots music, and most of in love with each of their stage characters. They provide a show built on class and showmanship, flawless guitar work, and vocals filled with emotion and raw talent.
A very enjoyable evening. Two guys sitting down, playing songs and telling great stories in between. It was just like hanging out with them in their living room or around a campfire. They seem to genuinely enjoy each others company and respect each others music. They had us laughing all the time with stories of their careers and even had some anecdotes that were tailored to Winnipeg, where they have both played numerous times. Oh, and the music was great too.
Relaxing, easy, complete, fun, entertaining an overall fantastic show! Both gentlemen are at the top of their craft. Loved everything about the show.
Really enjoyed the show. Two absolute masters at their craft, enjoying each others company and letting the crowd in on the fun.
I am a big fan of both of these artist but without the backing of a support band I am afraid they didn't hit the mark for me. Lyle has a better voice live but John really appeared to be struggling. The adhoc conversations they had between songs was cute sometimes and awkward others. Overall I would say Lyle is a bit more worthy of a live artist doing an acoustic set but John really needs the supporting band to fill in his limited vocal abilities.
What's not to love? Two incredible song writers who genuinely enjoy each other's company...2.5 hours of fantastic music!
