I saw Machine Head at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. I first saw Machine Head on February 4, 2015 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre, which was also just them, but they played for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Once again, it was just Machine Head and this time, they started at 8:00 PM SHARP and played for 2 hours and 40 minutes. The band played 23 songs as well as a guitar solo by Phil Demmel and a drum solo by Dave McClain. Highlights included the band opening with Ten Ton Hammer for the first time since 1997 and playing Seasons Wither to name a few. Also, the interaction and the connection with the fans are what also make Machine Head a fun band to go see live. Not to mention the prices of tickets are very reasonable: whereas a lot of concerts are getting more expensive, I paid $39.25 with fees for a balcony seat for that show.
Robb sounded good, but did sound off a few times. At the time, I assumed it was because of their gruelling touring and long sets, but Robb was also sick. In fact, the band played for only 40-45 minutes in Pittsburgh on Thursday, February 15 because Robb had no voice left due to being sick.
Therefore, I was very lucky to see Machine Head play a full set and they still played a great show. I don't think it's the last time I will see them, but that show won't be easy to beat.
