About

Comedian. Actor. Musician. Advocate. Entrepreneur. Five-time Grammy and Emmy nominee.  Margaret Cho's strong voice has been lighting the path for other women, other members of underrepresented groups, other performers, to follow. Her recent television appearances - guest star on Season 2 of The Flight Attendant (HBO Max), guest star on Season 2 of Hacks (HBO Max) and two Netflix is a Joke comedy specials: Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration and Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin: Ladies Night Live - have expanded an already wide-ranging career, and her role as the 'mother hen' in the well-reviewed movie Fire Island solidifies why we all love Margaret in the first place.

As a comedian Margaret has been named one of Rolling Stone magazine's 50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time, one of Vogue magazine's Top 9 Female Comedians of all time, while CNN chose her as one of the 50 People Who Changed American Comedy.  Thankfully, Margaret has more stories to tell, and her production company, Animal Family Productions, has multiple scripted shows in development for 2022 and beyond.

    Go see Cho!

by Blair76 on 2010-10-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I have always been a fan of Margaret Cho's odd humor. Here imitations of her mom, are side splitting. But with every comedy show, not everything is going to be funny. I had moments were I sat there with my arms crossed, just smiling. Regardless, I had a very enjoyable evening. It was definitely worth the price I paid and I would definitely see Margaret Cho again, the next time she come to town.

    Margaret Cho is hilarious!!!

by catchysaying on 2010-10-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This is the second time I've been to a Margaret Cho show at the Jubilee. Once again, she did not disappoint. The show started with a wonderful surprise for an opening act. I won't ruin in for anyone reading this who hasn't seen the show yet, but I'm a huge fan of this comedian's youtube videos, so I was extatic to see him in charater on stage. Margaret herself was absolutely hilarious. Her trademark bawdy and vulgar humor was out in full force, and I laughed the whole time. Plus, she can sing! Who knew?

I loved this show! Margaret normally puts together some great pieces, this one is no exception. I always love her facial expressions! The added musical elements was a great touch! The only thing I wasn't extremely impressed with was the opener, didn't see much of her, but what I saw, wasn't really all that funny.

    Funnier in person

Really glad that Margaret Cho made it to Calgary! She was a lot of fun and the live venue made it way more interesting than the stand up shows on TV. Would definitely go see her again.

    Margaret Cho

It was ok for $50.00, wasn't as good as the last time she was here...which was fantastic. This time she was ok but I would think twice about going to see her live again.

    not my taste

by Cornball on 2010-10-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

She was funny at times, especially when she talked about her mother, but all the bathroom and sex stuff was a bit too graphic for my taste.

    Cho was awful!

by enwwdj on 2010-10-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone. Mostly the sound system was awful. The sound was so distorted by over(?)amplification you couldn't understand half of what was spoken, and none of the singing. The opening guy was just lame. Chos jokes are getting old and more reliant on toilet ?humour?. I would give no stars, but not an option here...

Was funnier last year. I enjoyed her songs, but she seems to be grabbing jokes from many different areas. I wonder if she has too much on the go...

She was hilarious and her new content was quite good. Everyone in the group of four that I went to see the show with liked it. I did think that the show was going to be a bit longer, though. She was only onstage for approximately an hour and a half. Still, it was a good show and I'd definitely go again. The opening comedian was quite good, too. I really enjoyed his routine. He was onstage for roughly half an hour.

Margaret Cho is as funny as ever!

by runner1 on 2010-08-29Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Margaret Cho is not for everyone but on Saturday night, she was preaching to the converted. She had the audience laughing from beginning to end. Topics covered included the effects of olive oil, Proposition 8, Southern red-necks, gay hunters, elderly strippers, Lady Gaga, shopping for yoga clothes under the influence of weed, trying to get pregnant, and her parents. Margaret Cho also demonstrated her musical talent by performing several songs from her new album, "Cho Dependent". The show was worth the money.
