marriage of Figaro by Opera Lyra was excellent!

by tttt123 on 2015-03-31National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

everything (except perhaps the commercial at the beginning ) was beyond reproach. All the main characters sang and performed perfectly. We were quite close which meant we could easily see the subtle expressions, but had to crank our heads up to see the translated text. Overall - the best opera I have been to.

    stellar

Hats off to the whole cast of Opera Lyra Ottawa,to the NAC orchestra and its conductor, to the stage director, to the set and costume designer, to the lightings crew, and to everybody behind the scenes. Surtext translations also much appreciated. You gave us a flawless, magical Figaro. Wherever he may be, Mozart would surely have given you all 5 stars. The opening intro to distinguished guests was a lovely touch. Thank you.

It was more than a reproduction of one of the most famous operas; it was entertaining, it was alive on stage....wow!

    Wonderful performance

by Goodboyfine on 2015-03-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Opera Lyra's Marriage of Figaro was a highly entertaining performance of this Mozart opera. Some solid performances and some that went beyond. In particular, John Brancy's Figaro and Nathalie Paulin's Countess stand out. Wallis Giunta was a charming and amusing Cherubino. The big hit for us was Sasha Djihanian's Susanna. Wonderful voice and great acting in one package.

This was my second time at the opera so I do not have a lot of experience. The performances were impressive and the music was just as I expected -amazing!. I really enjoyed it and will surely go back again!
