  • Amazing

I have been waiting a long time to see Mary Chapin Carpenter and never thought it would happen. My husband and I traveled from Sydney NS for the event and it was so worth the trip. We loved the State Theater & Portland Maine and look forward to finding more events there in the future. One of our favorite duos, First Aid Kit is there in September and I highly recommend seeing these ladies and at the State Theater....This was a great memory and trip for us both!!

  • Mary Chapin Carpenter will touch your soul!!!

by oprah on 2010-07-12Park West - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

We have been to many, many concerts in our lifetime and this was by far the most UNFORGETTABLE!!! Mary Chapin's music, voice, songwriting, personality, and band will captivate your soul and keep you entertained for the entire 2 hours that they play. Although I enjoy a good dose of Madonna and Gaga as much as the next person, this was 10 times BETTER! Her music is perfection, as is her new CD, which I purchased (signed) after the concert. She sang a mix of old and new and I was surprised and extremely delighted at the number of older songs they chose to play and the song selection in general. I loved her commentary on how/when/why she wrote many of her songs. I traveled from Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Chicago just to see her and it was time well spent as she did not disappoint. The only downside was that the venue did not allow pictures (I just wanted one great pic to remember such an incredible evening!) Her band is stellar and the opening act was just as great. I can only hope she will add dates on this tour and come to Detroit or Canada because I would definitely go back to see her again and again. The tickets were reasonably priced (only $40.00) for such a memorable evening...I TRIPLE LOVED IT!!!!!!!!

  • Enjoyed the performance.

Mary was in fine form, and her band did not disapoint. Delays and waiting pushed the concert back a bit late, I understand it was due to the weather, but no announcements or apologies were made.
