Mew - Flawless, as usual.
by Bluebeard on 2015-10-02Venue - VancouverThis was my fourth time seeing the Danish band in Vancouver and, as usual, the band wowed the crowd. Too bad their were only a couple of hundred people there to see this show. The last time around the same venue was packed, but I think they waiting too long between tours (about 6 years). They definitely didn't lose any fans this time around and word of mouth will hopefully start to build up their North American audience again. I'm still blown away by the accuracy of their vocal harmonies and their ability to improve on their album material when playing live. They played a great mix of songs of all of their albums and the absence of their original guitarist for this tour was only slightly noticeable (and likely only by a few people), as Bo Madsen is very much a part of what makes their sound so unique. After about 1.5 hours of time changes and flowing melodies over complex rhythms, it made for quite the contrast when they strummed out the simple 4/4 extended ending of the aptly titled, 'Comforting Sounds' to end the show. Such an uplifting experience. I look forward to seeing Mew again their next time around.
