THE WAR ON DRUGS IN CONCERT:

Combining the soaring synth lines of new wave and the twangy guitar tones of heartland rock, the War on Drugs have arrived at a sound that is at once familiar and all their own. The Philadelphia foursome formed nearly a decade ago, with cofounder Kurt Vile departing before they broke through with 2014's Lost in the Dream. That album by the new lineup stormed its way onto charts around the world with barnburners like "Red Eyes" and "An Ocean Between the Waves". Beloved by fans for their exceptional live shows, the War on Drugs will deliver another round of high-octane performances on their latest tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in 2005 by Adam Granduciel and Kurt Vile, the War on Drugs made their debut in 2008 with Wagonwheel Blues, a compelling slice of Americana-influenced rock that fared well with critics. Shortly after the band's first European tour Vile left to pursue his solo career, resulting in a new lineup for 2011 sophomore album Slave Ambient. The album was a critical and commercial hit, landing at No. 4 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, but its success paled in comparison to the band's third effort. That album, 2014's Lost in the Dream, launched them to international acclaim, firmly establishing them as one of the year's biggest buzz bands and paving the way for continued touring.

    Great show

    Haven't had a show this loud in a while! The sound was amazing although sometimes I felt the guitar was a bit buried by the other instruments during solos. Almost two hours of amazing music. Loved it!

    Way too loud and sound badly mixed…shame, I love the band and their previous show outdoors at the MTL Jazz fest a few years ago was perfect! Pretty disappointed this time round.

    Horribly loud

    I love War on Drugs, listen all the time, but from the start of the show I was assaulted by a wall of sound and poor acoustics that never stopped. It seemed like they brought all the equipment for the outdoor show at the FEQ the following night to the small venue at MTelus....way too much and way too loud. I would have preferred to enjoy the voice and music and various instruments but sadly that was not the case and we left the concert early to go soothe our bleeding ears.....

    This is a must to experience. Songs, lightshow, talent talent talent. Everything you could ask for in a concert!!!!! Words can’t describe what you will experiance. Get tickets for them. You won’t regret it

    Love the stage setup, light show and the solid sound kept by the bass and drummer. I highly recommend to see The War on Drugs.

    They are fn amazing! I watch them on utube and buy there music off itunes! I play there music continuously while riding my motorcycle! I seen them at the winnipeg folk festival than rode my bike 7 hours to see them in thunderbay on
