Miami HEAT History

Founded in 1988 as an expansion franchise, the Miami HEAT are one of the NBA's premier organizations, laying claim to 16 Southeast Division titles, seven Eastern Conference titles, and three NBA Championships. After hiring renowned NBA coach Pat Riley in 1995, the team won its first Championship in 2006, led by Hall of Famers Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade, Alonzo Mourning, and Gary Payton. Miami then captured back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013 with their “Big Three” consisting of Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh.

In the summer of 2019, much of the team's current core began to take shape, as the HEAT drafted guard Tyler Herro, then acquired All-Star guard Jimmy Butler to round out a roster that already featured promising big Bam Adebayo. In their current form, the team has reached the Finals twice (in 2020 and 2023).

    Raptors were awesome!

    by Laugh77 on 2013-01-27AmericanAirlines Arena - Miami

Raptors play was spectacular against the NBA Champs Miami Heat - even with our first line injuries. Miami spectators were asking us where the hell we came from, as we were in the lead for 3/4 of the game! Proud of our team taking the Heat into overtime, even though we lost by a few points.

Slow start - strong finish for Bosh

by HotasHeat on 2012-03-11AmericanAirlines Arena - Miami

After a slow and somewhat difficult start, Bosh was on time for a better finish and help the Team come back in the last couple of minutes. Well done!

    Had to change seats

    by Tri8 on 2010-12-02AmericanAirlines Arena - Miami

The "best available" seats we were assigned are directly behind a disabled viewing area. If the area is not being used the seats are OK. If the disabled area is in use our seats (and several others) can see, at best, only half of the basketball court. We were somewhat fortunate in that the people using the disabled area came and went frequently so that we saw most of the game. Also there were some unused seats in the area so for the second half of the game we, and several others, were able to change seats. This distraction certainly affected our enjoyment of the game and the NBA experience.

Game was great! Fans.... not so much...

    by steff56822 on 2010-11-17AmericanAirlines Arena - Miami

The game was really great! My one complaint- the Heat fans... They came late (I could not believe how empty the place was until the middle of the 2nd quarter)... were pretty quiet and unenthusiastic the entire time... and then left early!!!

    Heat vs. Cavs

by kevinb on 2010-01-29American Airlines Arena - Miami

This was my first NBA game and I loved it. The atmosphere was great, the crowd was really into it, and the venue was awesome. The only downfall that I have noticed is that there is not much space between the seats, I felt like I was rubbing elbows with my neighbor all game. Overall it was a great experience and I will really enjoy seeing another NBA game.

    Heat vs Pacers

by Anonymous on 2009-12-29American Airlines Arena - Miami

Great baskteball event. Really enjoyed watching Wade play as well as few former NCAA players such Hansbrough, Hibbert, Beasley. Great game overall even if the score difference was really high in favor of Miami.

Miami & New Orleans was phenomenal!

by Wiley on 2009-11-23American Airlines Arena - Miami

The game was exactly what we hoped it to be. We came from British Columbia, Canada just to see it, and nothing is better than not being disappointed.
