    Love Michael Franti

by Kat58 on 2013-10-02Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

Really enjoyed the show ... would be even better in an outdoor venue, but Michael Franti still managed to come up to the 2nd floor balcony and shake hands and sing with us up there. So even the higher up seats were able to feel a part of the show. He was always mingling with the crowd but the Burton Cummings Theater is not a very venue for doing that, as quite often we couldn't see him ... Also wish he did more of his older stuff ...

Michael Franti -- The best show EVER!!!

by KGro on 2013-09-10The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This was an amazing concert, and probably the best I have ever attended. The venue was excellent and allowed Michael to go around the audience and reach virtually everyone! I would love to go back and relive that night.

What happened to Spearhead & Micheal Franti?

by Finsez on 2013-09-10The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I've seen this band twice in its initial incarnation, mellow to building infectious rap grooves. Political, social commentary and above all a party, feel good rhythmic vibe. But that was in the days of the albums 'Home' & 'Chocolate Supa Highway'. When they first hit the stage with the bubblegum pop I figured, 'okay he's getting the single pop record out of the way, maybe it was a hit'. Sadly, no. The entire gig was a Jack Johnson nod to reggae/pop. It was unreal, I couldn't believe it. All the depth and groove gone, replaced by self help Miley Cyrus, (early Miley Cyrus) lyrics and feel. I was sadened. I left early. I guess you can never go 'Home'.

Michael Franti has such a beautiful stage presence. The music was incredible, as always, and his ability to reach out and connect with the audience makes him so unique. This man was born to touch the lives of the people who listen to him and he is such a special human being.

Franti and Spearhead ... need I say more?

by Morgs on 2010-11-17Kool Haus - Toronto

Michael Franti and Spearhead we absolutley amazing!! I knew they would be great, but I was blown away by how great they would be. Michael himself has so much energy and passes that through to the audience. His love for the fans truly shines through as he and his bandmates play and sing throughout the crowd. They are willing to meet their fans and take the time to thank them personally. What an amazing group of people and experience!

Michael Franti and Spearhead - what a vibe!

by midlifemike on 2010-11-15Kool Haus - Toronto

Michael Franti and crew have developed not just a great vibe over the years but lyrically what is needed in this day and age. I cannot believe more people haven't caught on. Poppy, reaggae, ska beats that put anyone of any age in a summertime mood. And he showed this showmanship bringing a 79 year old on stage as well as a bunch of kids. It is good to know that music, most of what I myself listen to, doesn't have to be always angst-laden. Appreciate the life you have, take a little bit of love and spread it organically and we'll all be smilin'. I may be biased as I bought tickets to see them opening for John Mayer earlier this year and left as soon as the twittering fool came out. MF's music not just stands out but will stand the test of time unlike the JM's of the world. Too bad more people don't know that but it did allow room for us to dance who came. Instead of 2000, he could easily get a crowd 10x that going and and Brian Wilson wrote so long ago in another time-tested song, "Wouldn't that be nice".....

    franti is losing his edge

by woodino on 2010-11-15Kool Haus - Toronto

I loved early Spearhead, disposable heroes, and don't get me wrong, MF and the gang put on a great show. But, I was there with a bunch of long time Spearhead fans who were saying it's getting pretty poppy. It used to be more political and now it's all peace and love. There are lots of people out there who do a worse job of pop, but it's certainly worth mentioning. I've attended my last Spearhead show. Thanks for the memories. And the new, poppy, sappy whiteboy guitarist contributes nothing to the sound. No business whatsoever sharing the stage with those other musicians.
