Michigan State Spartans Women's Basketball History
The Michigan State Spartans women’s basketball team began in 1972 and earned their first of 18 NCAA Championship tournament berths in 1991. Under head coach Joanne P. McCallie, Michigan State advanced to the National Championship game in 2005 before falling to Baylor. The Spartans made it to the Sweet Sixteen again in 2006 and 2009. As members of the Big Ten, the Spartans have claimed four regular season titles and one conference tournament championship in 2005.

Michigan State Spartans at Breslin Student Events Center
East Lansing, Michigan, is home to one of the premier women’s basketball programs in the Big Ten Conference. The Michigan State Spartans play at the Breslin Student Events Center, which opened in 1989 and seats 15,000. The arena is also home to the Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball team and the women’s volleyball team.
