Milwaukee Brewers History

The Milwaukee Brewers joined MLB in 1970 after the Seattle Pilots relocated to the Midwest. The Brewers played in the American League until 1997, when they moved to the National League Central division. Over the years, the Brewers have claimed the AL Pennant in 1982 and five NL Central division titles. Although the Brewers have not won a World Series, the team advanced to the Fall Classic in 1982 and secured Wild Card berths in 2008, 2019 and 2020.

The Brewers have had eight players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, including Robin Yount, Paul Molitor and Hank Aaron. Four Brewers players have been awarded the team’s five total MVP honors: Rollie Fingers in 1981, Yount in 1982 and 1989, Ryan Braun in 2011 and Christian Yelich in 2018. Yelich also won back-to-back Hank Aaron Awards and Silver Slugger distinctions, in 2018 and 2019.
