    Great acting but missing scenes

by Cdnpiper on 2012-03-25Casino Rama - Rama

Acting and story was great, on a par with the Broadway version. The only bad part was that several scenes were missing, no intermission, bunny or shrubbery :-(

    Spamalot is a must see!

by Blubaby on 2012-03-25Casino Rama - Rama

This is a truly great musical, it was funny, well acted and the songs and lyrics were very clever. We had a smile on our faces the whole way through and lots of laughs. We are english and we thought the cast were english as their accents were so real. For a feel good experience this show should not be missed.

    SPAMALOT

    by triviabuff11 on 2012-03-23Casino Rama - Rama

I brought my senior Mom; she said it was the BEST she has seen in her life. Loved the humour, the costumes, the voices, the choreography, the songs, the staging. (And she never appoves much.) I was DELIGHTED, because I wanted her to have a good time, and because I enjoyed it also, and would love to see it again. More than once! I just regret that we did not get the CD for both of us.

The show was great! Bits from the classic movie and elsewhere with some delightful changes and twists. Costumes and songs were not to be missed, just the right amount of irreverence. I was dissappointed with the merchandise though. A very limited selection, (two styles of shirts, and only two sizes). I heard by Sunday there wasn't even that. Friends who had seem the show in New York talked about the variety of things available, so it is out there.

Hilarious from start to finish. Best musical ever. Contains all the classic scenes of the movie plus so much more. If you like Monty Python, you will love this show.

GALLOPING COCONUTS... this show is fabulous!

by ForTheLoveOfDisney on 2010-11-30Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

I have been a fan of this musical since it's inception. I was thrilled to learn that it was coming to my hometown, and that (better still) I'd received 2 SECOND ROW seats as a wedding present. I found myself center stage, in awe of the production. The performers were flawless, and the transitions were fluid. The shtick was never-ending, and the audience ate it up. You can't imagine how stunned I was when I caught The Lady of the Lake's bridal bouquet at the end of the performance... it book-ended the best summer of my life!

A lot more than just Spam!

by Deanorama on 2010-11-30Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Attending the Saturday matinee of SPAMALOT, I expected a lot of references to the source material, Monty Python's HOLY GRAIL. I was not disappointed: the Knights, the coconuts, scrubbery and Holy Hand Grenade were all in place. The plot moved along at a brisk pace with verbal wit and physical comedy in every scene. Surprisely, that was only one aspect of the show. Idle and his colleagues used the HOLY GRAIL as a frame for some devilish songs and constant send-ups of Broadway musicals. Although not all of the song lyrics were audible, there was plenty of energy on the stage at all times. The real gem was the part of The Lady of the Lake who brilliantly served up some of the best songs, nudged the plot along and even provided the required romantic subplot. Special nods also go out to the dancers who kicked up a storm a'la the Rockettes. Fans of Monty Python will not be disappointed and those who like their musicals on the satirical side should also check this out.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this production. The mix of original songs with recreated movie scenes was certainly a crowd favourite. I highly recommend this show to long-time Python fans and new-comers alike.

I love it. I'm having spam spam spam.....

by MrsGorilla on 2010-11-29Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Having seen enough Monty Python in my life to be able to quote 85% of everything they have ever done, I was going into this with the expectation of this show being a script I already knew off by heart being performed by second rate python wannabees. I am happy to say I was wrong. Althought there was alot that wasn't new, the familar lines were performed fairly well. The new content, however, especially "The Song That Goes Like This" and the "Diva's Lament", were the parts that I laugh the hardest and were the parts of the show that were performed best. Would I see it again? Of course, how else will I learn all the words to the songs!

Very entertaining two plus hours. Great acting, dancing and singing. Lady of the Lake/Gwynyvere has an incredible voice. Watch for her on Broadway!

Spamalot is not a spam!!! Really!

by chickhenlady on 2010-11-29Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

It was so funny. I have watched Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail Movie probably about 5 times. It is two hours of forgetting all the troubles in the world and just laugh. The show had us laughing tears down our faces ,the two hours went by way too fast. Singing was fantastic, actors were fantastic. Laughter heals all, and they did it , Python style. Saw the same show in Vegas about 6 years ago,Winnipeg show may not have been as elaborate as the Vegas style but was just as good. Well done.
