    Mythbusters was terrific

by wmbdak on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I surprised my husband for his birthday by getting tickets with 7 of our friends for the show, as he's a pretty big Mythbusters geek. Adam and Jamie are just like they are on tv - funny, smart, and really interested in making science cool and interesting. We had great seats for the show, but they made sure there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The show was great for all ages, and when the floor was opened for questions both Adam and Jamie took questions from both kids and adults. When asking for volunteers, they looked past the first 5 rows and pulled people from the entire lower floor. Very engaging, very cool. Go if you have a chance.

by Barrettbunch on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

My two sons (18 &15) went and they thought it was awesome. Wanted us to get a PVR so they could record every episode every day.

    A Hit - not a 'Myth'!

by coldfan on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

While the insurance company kept the explosions off the stage, Jamie & Adam didn't disappoint! With their usual wit, they kept the audience engaged and laughing. There were no real surprises, but a lot of audience participation helped keep the show from lagging too much, as we had to sit through the necessary stage set changes.

Not quite what I expected, but quite enjoyable

by MCBC on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I mistakenly thought this would be more of an on-stage busting of myths extravaganza. Having re-read the title "Behind the Myths", I realize that this is exactly what took place. The audience participation activities, and the individual Q & A by both Jamie and Adam were very entertaining, and (in their own individual ways) both were highly relatable. I would recommend this to any Mythbusters fan.

Everything we expected from the Mythbusters. Sound & video was good, Everyone loved the audience participation even if they weren't chosen. Q & A was appreciated by the audience. The matinee ausdience was composed of younger patrons. Perhaps the evening performance would have been a little more àdult`. Would have enjoyed a little more special effects on the stage than were presented. Could have recreated some of the busted myths, eg: red heads react to cold differently, etc...

Seating area and event makes all the diff

by Disappointedalso on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

A change of seating area made all the difference to us. This time we were in the mezzanine instead of the balcony. The event was timed perfectly and everyone was having the greatest time. If they come through again we will try to get into the orchestra since there is audience participation.

    Busted the Myths

by Whatsanickname on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I didn't really know what to expect from this as I bought it as a present for my boyfriend, but I found it extremely enjoyable even without being a hardcore fan of the show. I thought the Q&A session was great and I loved the interaction to with the crowd. Would definitely recommend this event.

    Behind the Myths: Amusing

by MarcoPolo6228 on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver, BC

Saw the show with my kids in Vancouver. It was fun to see the duo perform a few stunts and hear the interaction. The venue, a regular theater, does limit what can be done, however. Nothing too dramatic or explosive, making the whole thing kind of a lukewarm experience. There were some in the audience who were definitely in to the experience and having an incredibly good time. What I liked? * the re-enactments of various experiments were ok. * Adam is energetic with a great stage presence; the ever-phlegmatic Jamie would not normally be on a stage and probably is as lively as he could ever be. How to improve? * re-enact or reproduce the busting or confirmation of a myth. this would encourage the reinforcement of what I see as their key message "don't believe everything you're told, try it out for yourself". Even doing a live voice over of an experiment on screen would be interesting -- especially an audience-pleasing explosive one. Only being a fan, and not a worshipper, I found the show just OK and overpriced.

    Mythbusters show was really fun!

by BriCliff on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The show was a good mix of experiments (usually with audience members helping out) and Q & A sections. The guys were comfortable on stage and really engaged the audience well. I really enjoyed the show and would definitely go again next time they're in town.

Good fun for all ages, but lacking follow through

by Waltonia on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

It's Jamie and Adam right there for an intimate afternoon of q&A and fun tricks, and that should be enough if you're a fan. However ... We found the gags and tricks to be unresolved. It was like they ran through a three hour show in just two hours, leaving out much of the background science, build-up and debrief that would make the bits more meaningful. Sure, it was fun to watch the volunteers pedal-pump liquid into exploding balloons over eachother's heads, but what does it all mean? Adam did briefly discuss energy transfer and hydroelectricity, but it was quick and on to the next thing. Nonetheless, I love these guys, entertaining, funny and worthy of geeky respect. It was good to hang with them for the afternoon. It was a perfect blend of cool nerd and clownish spaz with a little Penn&Teller Lite. This show is very kid friendly and most over the age of 5 would enjoy it.

If you are expecting to see myths busted live on stage, you will be disapointed. The performance is more about the process that drives the Mythbusters show. I found the show to be wildly entertaining but I am also a huge fan of the show and more specifically of the two main hosts, Adam and Jamie. Basically the show is a fun ride that will leave you with a better understanding of the success of the show and the two main reasons behind its success.

    A very fun night!

by LMBear on 2012-01-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

A fun filled event from start to finish and we were thoroughly entertained. Jamie and Adam were absolutely charming and the show was educational and entertaining. Young children may become restless during the Q&A sessions but the adults had a great time.
