About

NAO IN CONCERT:

Rising UK singer-songwriter Nao has become a critical darling with her self-dubbed brand of "wonky funk," a unique hybrid of cutting-edge electronic soul and '90s R&B that's at once modern and timeless. Since making her debut in 2014 she's proven herself an incredible live performer, wowing fans at major festivals like Glastonbury with powerhouse performances that showcase her songwriting prowess and otherworldly vocals. In concert Nao's acrobatic, helium-high voice is light as a feather, nimbly riding the undulating synths and understated beats of futuristic cuts like "Bad Blood" and "In the Morning" while her backing band sets a soulful groove with guitar, bass, keys, and drums. With her debut album For All We Know generating big buzz on both sides of the pond in 2016, Nao is set to stun on her first US headlining tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Nao, aka Neo Jessica Joshua, grew up in East London and studied vocal jazz at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She cut her teeth singing in an all-girl a cappella group and working as a backup singer for Jarvis Cocker, and in 2014 she made her debut as Nao with the EP So Good. The record's title track peaked at No. 4 on the iTunes electronic chart, and in 2015 she found critical acclaim with her sophomore EP February 15. Following an acclaimed Glastonbury performance and an appearance on the track "Superego" from Disclosure's chart-topping sophomore album Caracal, Nao was short-listed for the prestigious BBC Sound Of 2016 poll (she ultimately finished third). She made good on all the hype in mid-2016 with her hotly anticipated full-length debut For All We Know, an auspicious effort that has ticket buyers dying to catch her in concert.
