About

Comedian Nate Bargatze’s clean-cut and relatable humor is why The Atlantic called him “The Nicest Man in Stand-Up.” The Nashville, Tennessee native and host of the Nateland podcast found his voice in the mid-2000s with regular appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Bargatze was featured on Jimmy Fallon's Clean Cut Comedy Tour 2013, three years after he was named “New York's Funniest Stand-Up” at the New York Comedy Festival. Since then, Bargatze has been selling out arenas on solo tours and in support of comedy icons like Chris Rock. Bargatze’s signature deadpan delivery was showcased in his 2021 Netflix special, The Greatest Average American, which earned a Grammy Award nomination for the coinciding comedy album. His 2023 Amazon Prime special Nate Bargatze: Hello World became the most-streamed original comedy special debut in Prime history — with 2.9 million viewers in its first 28 days — culminating in Bargatze breaking the attendance record for Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Bargatze hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the second time in fall 2024 and also co-produced a holiday variety special titled “Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas” with Lorne Michaels. In May 2025, Bargatze published his highly-anticipated first book, Big Dumb Eyes: Stories From A Simpler Mind, which became an instant New York Times bestseller. Coming up for 2026, Bargatze will host his new comedy game show, The Greatest Average American, which premieres on February 25 on ABC and Hulu, and will star in the family-friendly comedy film, The Breadwinner, which is scheduled to be released on March 13.

  • Love Nate, but the venue wasn't great

by mj on 2024-05-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I'm a Toronto native and huge fan of Nate - this was my 3rd time seeing him in the city. His venues have gotten progressively bigger, which is awesome. But the scotia arena was really uncomfortable. I paid for a close up seat and it was unfortunately just a folding chair with a very uncomfortable position/view given how the screen was positioned. I could barely make him out despite being a few rows away because of the set up and lighting. That being said, he was awesome (though I felt like the last two sets and his netflix specials were funnier) and his opening acts (I think there were 4 of them) were really good too. I hope next time he's able to book several shows in venues more comfortable for standup performances.

  • I laughed the whole show!

It’s so nice to see a comedian who can make me cry laughing without cursing or making lewd jokes. We brought our 15 year old and he had a blast as well. Great show! The openers were funny as well. So glad we went!

  • Not his best work

by Eric on 2024-02-03Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

I have been a huge fan of Nate since the beginning. Last seen him at the Biltmore Hotel in Vancouver in 2017. Only about 200 seats and he couldn't even fill those. But it didn't seem to matter, that show was great. Now at 44, Nate is at the age where most of the greats really start to hit their stride. But unfortunately, he seems to have now completely run out of material. This was easily the worst set by him I have seen. His skills are unquestioned, but he really needs to hire a team of top writers. But could he pull off a well crafted tale, or would he seem out of place? Maybe Walmart or family stories really are his happy place? We suggest checking out any of his earlier specials on Netflix, rather than seeing him live now. On a positive note, the show also included sets by Nick Thune, Joe Zimmerman, and Lachlan Patterson. All respected comics, and all put on great show.

  • One of the best comedians

by DR on 2024-02-01Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Nate and the accompanying comedians were terrific. Rogers Arena did not have enough entry gates and therefore a lot of people missed part of the show.

Nate was so funny and his observations of life and married life had my wife and I cracking up. So glad we got to see this. Not only that, the 4 comedians opening were great. We laughed nonstop!
